The Dodge brothers, John Francis and Horace Elgin were Automobile Pioneers and Manufacturers, who founded the successful automobile firm Dodge Brothers Company. They were born and raised in the town of Niles in western Michigan. John Francis was born October 25, 1864 and Horace Elgin was born May 17, 1868. The Dodge Brothers were an amazing team and built an amazing company by working hard, being skilled in mechanics, and making a huge reputation for themselves. Both brothers were inseparable as children and as adults. In 1910, the first building known as the Hamtramck Plant, was constructed. During 1910-1913, this facility was mainly used to produce gears, other machined metal products, forgings, and castings. The annual parts production was very impressive. About sixty percent of the entire Ford car was made by Dodge during the decade 1903-1913.
