Mental Health Coach Impact on Student-Athletes: An Interdisciplinary Approach Introduction Mental wellness coaches can really make an impact on people outside of the mental health aspect that people think they are intended to help with. Student-athletes in college today can directly see the positive impact that a wellness coach can bring. Most college programs do not have a mental health coach available for their athletes, when they could benefit greatly from doing so. The mental health coach will also encourage them to get involved and find ways to give back to their community. Student-athletes can be positive role models for young children of all backgrounds to look up to, so the students getting into the community and donating their time will allow the children to see their role models more often. Having a strong role model will help the children of the community learn important values and disciplines, leading to a better overall health of the public. The common ground between each of these disciplines is that mental health coaching does not only create benefits for the mental health community. Instead, the improvements in mental health leads to an improvement in many facets of life such as better physical performance, improved educational production, and developing sturdy public health for the community.An athlete that is not stressing as much will sleep better, which means they have the capability to perform better in the classroom and in their specific sport.
