10 GRIPPING MOVIES THAT WERE SHOT IN JUST ONE ROOM
Movies are dynamic works of art that often entail many uses of props, locations, and vibrant costumes to enrich the storyline being presented. However, there are some gripping movies out there that were shot in just one room, and therefore, the storylines presented are just as overwhelming.
Amazed, I bet you would be but still have a look here:
1. Fermat’s Room
Invited by an anonymous host, four mathematicians that do not know each other are gathered in a room. They soon discover that the room is moving onwards and that it would soon crush them. This thriller is gripping as the mathematicians try to figure out the connections between each other and try to solve how to stop the room from moving

A Field in England (2013)
The plot being set in the 17th century Civil War, it revolves around a set of characters that are held captive by an evil alchemist and who are forced to find a particular treasure that the alchemist believes to exist. The cinematography and the direction of the creative team have been commended by many of the critics and has been suggested by many as a must watch.
7. The Hidden Room (1949)
If one is familiar with Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment, this movie will prove to be a fascinating movie to watch as this movie focuses on the killer’s preparation and premeditation to commit a crime. Although the crime is a crime of passion, where having revenge is the most important aspect, the probing into the psyche of a killer within his laboratory is a fascinating watch.
8. Locke (2013)
Based on the Steven Knight novel, the movie focuses on one character, the site foreman Ivan Locke, who drives a car for the entire 90 minutes of the movie. Cinematically speaking, this might be one of the most boring movies, as it does not present with all the fancy elements of a commercial film. However, the plot and character development are just as expertly done by the director as it is done in the novels by Steven Knight, and is a must watch for those who don’t believe that novels cannot be recreated on
But it does not really sum up the enjoyable book by Esther Forbes. Without all the details and struggle between each chapter of the novel, the movie is not as
I believe that the short film conveys the significant idea way more than the novel by focusing more
The book has more eventful scenes, some scenes more valuable than others. I feel like students will find more things to connect to in real life situations from reading the book than viewing the movie. “There are a million ways for the movie to go wrong” (The Atlantic). That 's why i believe movie makers should really pay attention to details in the book and incorporate it into the movie to make it more successful. I absolutely love the book.
Yet the distinct differences between them also affect the plots to an extent to which the suspense in the movie is less compared to the novel. Although the differences greatly alter the two, it makes each of them unique and exclusive from each other. Despite these differences, there is one theme that links both the novel and the movie together: that people with different personalities, interests, and appearances are also the same to each other. The book shows more examples of this theme than the movie, making the novel more understanding to other individuals than the film itself. Because of this, we would recommend the book and film to those who experience a likeliness to the conflicts in each storyline, such as a fight between two different social
The editing, camera angles, and the music all rang bell. Comparing this film to the preview films weve watched this one was beyond in a different level. The film broke the hays code the
In the end I found the film to be easier to understand vs the book as it was an easier and more straight forward plot line whereas in the book it seemed to jump around leading to constant flipping between stories and pages to get a better
Personally, I found the book more appealing than the movie because of the specific details and description. The whole story is set during a different time period so detail is key to understanding the lifestyle. For example, the story really set forth the idea of the handicaps. It was clear
The movie was still interesting, just not as suspenseful as the story in my opinion. Many books with movie adaptations are still considered better than the movie. No director could possibly get everything right, though they should still make an effort to somewhat-accurately represent the book and give it justice. Both the story and the film of The Birds are good, the story was better and more interesting in my
Fyodor Dostoevsky's 19th century novel Crime and Punishment explores the psychological torture and moral dilemmas that the main character Rodion Romanovitch Raskolnikov faces after he murders a pawnbroker and her sister. All of the characters in the novel face troubles and suffer as a result of them, however all characters do not respond to their difficulties in the same manner. Through the use of foils, which is a literary device in which one character is contrasted with another in order to emphasis particular qualities in the other, Dostoevsky explores character's various responses to difficult situations.
The movie itself was okay, but Percival decisions to lessen the character of the storyteller, Death, to leave out parts of Max’s character as a fighter and the beginning of his friendship with the man who spared his life, and to changes the circumstances in which the mayor and his wife quit using Rosa to wash their clothing, ultimately destroy the movie. Death, the narrator, describes the souls he collects and the reader hears him throughout the book, always there, but
As far as the movie goes it is very well done by paying homage to Krakauer’s Into the Wild. However because the movie is very linear in story telling as well as watered down characterization of Chris McCandless, the movie a watered down version of a story told with a much more interesting characterization and plot narrative. The novel Into the Wild combines the thrilling
The general idea of the only man on earth pinned against a diseased population was still evident through all the hollywood extras. All in all, I would recommend both book and movie to anyone who
I enjoyed the movie better than the book. It included just the right amount of action scenes, description words, and details from the story. The story was amazing but I like seeing things more than reading them. I usually like the movies better than the book.
Although according to Orgel “The film includes some minor departures from the text of the book,” (Orgel), it is still a fairly good adaption. When making a film that director most
Thesis: The Film Shutter Island is one of the best suspenseful thrillers, it accomplishes this by employing the literary, dramatic, and cinematic aspects of filming such as symbolism, superb acting, and cinematography, making the film a must see.
