Historically, plants have played an important role in medicine. To early people, they are easy to hand and were intricately connected to diet and or healing. Through this observation and experimentation, they learned which plants promoted health and well- being. Plants are richest resource of

This belongs to the family Leguminoseae or Fabaceae. Earlier the herb was known as Dolichos lablab. In the tropical region, (Dolichos lablab) is used as a food crop and as a vegetable. As an herb, Dolichos lablab is an annual or short lived perennial in nature. As a vine, Dolichos lablab has purple colored beautiful fragrant small flower and purple colored flat seed pods. Bataw as commonly called in Ilokano folk. The plant is abundant in Ilocos Sur is a condiment in the foods of the Ilocano. From the experience and observations made by the researcher the leaves are used to treat skin diseases, infusion of leaves are used for gonorrhea, poultice of leaves are used for snake bites. Juices of the leaves mixed with lime are applied to tumors and abscesses used as stomachic and antiseptic abdominal pains, diarrhea and vomiting abdominal pains, diarrhea, and …show more content…
A number of studies have focused on the biological activities. Total phenols and flavonoids possesses a broad spectrum of chemical and biological activities including radical scavenging properties (P. Padmanaba and S.N. Jangle, 2012). Sroka, (2005) have focused his studies on the biological activities of phenolic compounds which are antioxidants and free radical scavengers. In these studies have revealed presence of numerous chemicals including alkaloids, steroids, phenols, glycosides and saponins. It has been suggested that there is an inverse relationship between dietary intake of antioxidant rich foods and incidence of human diseases. These facts have inspired widespread screening of plants for possible medicinal and antioxidant properties and the utilization to antioxidants of natural origin to prevent

K.D.A. Saboia et al. , (2007) have been prepared the Bi4Ti3O12–CaCu3Ti4O12 {[BIT(X)–CCTO(100-X)]} composite powders through solid state reaction method and calcined in the range of 900 to 1020 ºC for 12 h. The as-prepared powders have modified in the form of thick film onto alumina ceramic substrate by utilizing screen printing. At 100 Hz, the value of dielectric constant (κ) of CCTO100 and BIT100 is 316.61 and 53.64 respectively. Conversely, the composite with X=20 % shows an unexpected dielectric constant of 409.71, which is around 20% higher in comparison with the CCTO.

Identify the limited range of wavelengths and named parts of the electromagnetic spectrum detected by humans and compare this range with those of THREE other named vertebrates and TWO named invertebrates. Plants are the most amazing environmental species, that have been around for millions of years. Most plants live from water and the sun’s energy, but some plants can tolerate saltwater. Two articles will be using charts, graphs, and pictures to find out which plants can tolerate saltwater. In the end only some plants with survive, while other will perish from this experiment.
• This book is about finding medicinal plants in the Amazon Rainforest to cure common diseases. • Sometimes, Western medicines cannot cure the common diseases. • This book was written by Mark Plotkin and it was published in 1993. • Mark Plotkin travels to different parts of the rainforest and collect several medicinal plants for a research experiment. •
Introduction: Transforming a gene or genetic information from one organism into another with the hopes that if done successfully the organism with the new DNA will be given new traits is a method known as genetic transformation (Rafter). Genetic transformation is used quite frequently in today’s world, form medicine to agriculture. In this lab we will be inserting a gene into an Escherichia coli bacteria with the help of a plasmid. Escherichia coli bacteria also known as E. coli, is a bacterium that is rod shaped and contains flagella to help it move.
Genetic engineering is changing the DNA code to express different traits. A plasmid is a circular piece of DNA that contains important genetic information. Recombinant DNA is the product after inserting your desired genes. The genes we hoped to insert in the pGLO lab were the GFP gene and the ampicillin resistance gene. GFP was needed so that we would tell if the ampicillin resistance gene had been properly placed when the bacteria glowed under a UV light.
This lab’s end result was to correctly identify each unknown solution using prior knowledge of chemical properties and the results of the first experiment conducted. Unknown solution D was the only colored solution, being blue while the others were clear. This made it easy to then match D up to Copper Sulfate because of its color. As unknown A and B were added together, lots of gaseous bubbles formed and revealed the fact that that reaction was the reaction between Hydrochloric Acid and Sodium Carbonate because it was the only reaction that produced a gas release. Unknown A and C produced the only yellow, brown precipitate just as the reaction between Sodium Carbonate and Silver Nitrate had previously.
The History and Science of Healing With Essential Oils Did you know that at least 30% of prescription drugs in the United States are based on naturally occurring compounds from plants? Each year, millions of dollars are spent searching for new, undiscovered, curative elements in the bark, roots, flowers, seeds and foliage of plants from every corner of the Earth. As the most powerful part of the plant, essential oils and plant extracts have been mankind 's first medicine. History has shown and science supports that these can be used medicinally to kill bacteria and viruses.
The location I chose for my inventory lab rotation is the Warm Springs Rehab Hospital in Kyle, TX. Warm springs rehab is a Hospital where patients are getting treated will and will be taken good care of and its also a place to feel comfortable such as a home. Which I spent two hours there. At the beginning, we were introduced to the Caroline Holt which is the dietitian of the Warm Springs Hospital, Caroline showed me and my partner the kitchen and she explained what they do on a daily bases, we also saw the dishwasher area which was very neat, then she showed us the cooking area which was next to the cooler, which is easier for them when they need to cook, which everything was organized and clean. After that we went to the office which was

Elijah Brycth B. Jarlos IX-Argon 1. Multicellularity is a condition of an organism to have multicellular cells. An example of a organism who has multicellular cells are plants, animals, and humans. The main reason of why scientists have a hard time finding a good set of existing organisms to compare. Is neither the first set of organisms which is being compared is dying as fast as the second specimen is being examined or they just can’t find the right species.
A comparative research study has give evident that cocoa have higher antioxidant activity than black tea, green tea, and red wine. iii. Antioxidants help to neutralize the oxygen-based free radicals that are present in the body. iv. Free radicals are associated with human disease, including cancer, atherosclerosis, Alzheimer 's disease, Parkinson 's disease and many others.
They can be found on educational campuses, institutes, roadsides, hospitals, gardens and offices. If you think of it practically, then plants are the real reason why there are life forms on this planet. Plants provide us with clean air, fresh water, healthy food, and a number of things. Plants are a major factor in all phases of a living bygones life; be it small or big, young or old, or living on land or it water. Plants are quite important to all but humans are most dependent on them.
