Domino 's Pizza, Inc, is an American pizza restaurant chain company that operates in over 13,800 locations in over 85 markets around the world.
It was founded by Tom Monaghan in 1960 and started as a single pizza restaurant in Michigan with the original name of DomiNick 's. From these humble beginnings and some setbacks in the early years, it went through a rapid growth spurt in the US in the 1980’s and went on to opening its first international store in Canada in 1983. In 1998, after 38 years of ownership, Domino 's founder Tom Monaghan announced his retirement, sold 93 percent of the company to Bain Capital, Inc. On July 30, 2002 Domino’s Pizza was incorporated and in 2004, after 44 years as a privately held company, Domino 's began on the New York Stock Exchange "DPZ”. After a few troubled years of slow growth and a static share price, a new CEO Patrick Doyle was appointed in 2010. He made large scale changes and re-invented the business by focusing on technology and spicing up the brand and image. ( Domino’s Pizza, 2018)
