This is especially true when it comes to using our phone, we are now armed with the power of a “swipe.” If we don’t like a brand’s content or ad and we’re not entertained, then we can swipe that message away. And this isn’t limited to the digital world. Consumers may not be able to “swipe” away a boring TV commercial, but they can turn their attention elsewhere, checking Facebook on their phone or watching YouTube videos on their second screen.
So what are brands and advertisers doing to thrive in a world of permission-based marketing?
A good example of a company that uses permission-based advertising is Starbucks. They are one of the world’s largest digital marketers.
