Tuesday night, President Donald trump Trumptook the floor to inform the public about the state of the union. As he read his speech, he told the confident story of our growing nation. “This is our new American moment. There has never been a better time to start living the American dream,”. I. Introduction Donald Trump: American Hero or Villain? For many Americans, Trump is seen as the long-awaited saviour of the nation. Others see him as the man to start World War III. In my paper, I will analyse Donald Trump’s political activities before and after the election to get an objective viewpoint of America’s President.
President Johnson did not speak with metaphors or use any allusions. This aided him in reinforcing just how important this topic was to him and should be to everyone watching. He used the discomfort and tense pressure that had been building up to his advantage as he shamed all of those who denied voting rights many times throughout the speech. There are many moments throughout the speech where he seems to be targeting specific Congress members with his intimidating stare. In fact, after he said Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s famous words he stared at Senator Dirksen who was one of the few who did not stand and applaud.
January 20th 2017 marked the day that president elect Donald Trump took his oath to office. Perhaps one of the most controversial electoral processes in the history of the United States’ presidency, the possible implications of Donald Trump’s leadership will most likely make this one for the history books. His speech seemed surprisingly reasonable, astonishingly efficient, and very impactful in comparison to what many were expecting from him, because of the negative and possible detrimental image he has created in the minds of many Americans. This style of delivery is not the style I would prefer to listen to, but I’m sure it was appropriate for a president, especially at that time. Something to keep in mind is the cold weather he gave the speech in. Speaking in such cold weather could have made a difference in his tone and delivery style. He appeared very confident and in a position of power and respect.
Rationale: Personally, I find Donald Trump irrational and unsuitable to become the next American President. Accordingly, I have been having a trouble understanding the popularity and support he has. For this reason, I wanted to investigate on his speech, especially its linguistic features, in order to comprehend why and how people have faith in him. Hence, for the written task for Part 2 – Language and mass communication of the course, I have decided to write an article by a critic in reaction to Donald Trump’s announcement of his candidacy for President of the United States, which was delivered on the sixteenth of June, 2015. An article is appropriate for this task because it allows me to express my understanding and opinion.

The initial question from Julie Pace is not exactly answered as she asks Donald Trump about the policy of his administration for dreamers to stay. Donald Trump avoids answering the question and uses limiting words, as his statement is not factual. As mentioned earlier, probably is an example of limiting word.
