Is the U.S on the brink of being nuclearly annihilated; conceivably, ending in another world war? With Donald Trump's new presidency, tensions between the U.S and North Korea have immensely escalated due to threats to launch missiles resulting in a possible World War III. President Trump plays a leading contribution to this tension with his constant boorish and disparaged actions towards North Korea. Even to the point where Trump has now dubbed Kim Jong Un as being “Little Rocket man”. As expressed from, Russia's president, President Vladimir Putin, “Problems should be solved in dialogue, and North Korea should not be backed into a corner.”Nevertheless, Donald Trump said that “I am allowing Japan and South Korea to buy a substantially …show more content…
According to President Vladimir Putin, Trump has North Korea “...backed into a corner.” For this reason, Kim Jong Un is doing all he can to intimidate his adversary. Hence, the U.S is now under threat of being obliterated with nuclear weapons. Although North Korea’s nuclear weapons are rapidly advancing, the country itself is underdeveloped compared to the U.S. For instance, in North Korea, the evolution of electricity has not been refined; consequently, the majority of the country experiences regular blackouts. At the border of the DMZ an advanced society and infrastructure can be seen; however, these cities are just propaganda town all to be used as a disguise. If North Korea was all mighty and content of itself there shouldn’t be a need for these towns. Withal, the detainment of their citizens, fabricated history, and indoctrination of belief are all to show that North Korea is self-conscious of their inadequacy be known to the outside world which will leave them at a disadvantage. As a whole, the country of North Korea is under-developed excluding their nuclear systems; therefore, these weapons are the only defense that North Korea has to unnerve their
Since the Korean War, all American presidents have pursued the same basic policy toward the Korean Peninsula. The first priority for American presidents has been protecting, nurturing and promoting South Korea. During the Cold War, U.S. leaders regarded it as essential to check communist expansion and the deaths of nearly 34,000 Americans in the Korean War made it politically unacceptable at home to again risk the loss of South Korea. This led to the signing of a security treaty with the ROK in 1953, the stationing of American military forces in South Korea to this day and large-scale support for South Korea in earlier decades. Due to South Korea’s later economic success and democratization, Americans came to regard it as a model of the benefits
Korea’s history already determined it was a weak country, having been a pawn for Far Eastern powers, so Cold War had left it nearly destroyed with epidemics, poverty, limited education, and authoritarian rulers (LaFeber, 2008). In this state, Korea was left vulnerable to communism. In 1945, the 38th parallel marked the ally agreement of disarming the occupying Japanese military, however by the end of the Korean War, it would be the indivisible line that divided the country between communism and democracy (LaFeber, 2008). In June 1950, when North Korean troops passed the 38th parallel, President Truman gave the order for American air and naval units to move into action to aid South Korea and to show the United States’ opponents that “the United States was no longer content with mere “containment” but now aimed for liberation (LaFeber, 2008, p. 114). LaFeber (2008) explains President Truman’s intent, “
Matthew Rabadi Civil Liberties and Multiculturalism Professor Szobonya 10/24/95 First Amendment Research Paper: America Vs. North Korea There are many societal problems in todays world. These problems can range from poverty, crime, to even human right violations. The United States serves as a model country, where many of these problems are not seen or handled with quality efforts.
Delury states that “the best way to alleviate the suffering of the North Korean people is to give them a chance to succeed economically and help open their country step by step (Delury, 2017).
(U) North Korea (NK), although isolated, have developed their own cultural aspects over the decades. The civilian considerations, such as PMESII/ASCOPE, in NK comes in many shapes and forms. The cultural aspects of NK are dependent on and significantly affected by these considerations. The culture of NK varies from the political to the information considerations in PMESII/ASCOPE. The government control these aspects in NK giving little to no civilian involvement.
North Korea lacks basic utilities to make modern human life impossible in most areas, “There is no medicine, there is no running water, there is no soap in hospitals,” (Ling 20:10). In North Korea they have no way of ensuring a healthy population, and they rely on countries like America to provide for them. Access to the small amount of modern amenities is completely based on someone’s position within the government. North Korea has not asked for aid even when they were in a massive famine, “I saw children dying under my hands when I was too late,” (Ling 20:31). Children in North Korea are dying from lack of food and the rest are stunted and deformed from malnutrition.
As an American, we cannot comprehend the types of laws that are enforced upon North Korean Citizens. A few bizarre controlment rules that I still struggle to comprehend myself are there are only twenty-eight ways North Korean men and women can cut their hair, North Korean Men and Women are not allowed to own a bible or any western literature, and also there are only three channels on tv and you must only watch those. Along with those laws in place, the North Korean government has control over education and news which leads to many growing up to hate other countries besides their own with no reasoning behind their hatred. Our lives along with many others are still being affected by the iron grip of societal norms.
Americans live under a government with a powerful military, same as the South Korean government. America conducts military exercises on a very regular basis. Whether the United States does these exercises in the bases in the United States or their bases around the world. North Korea does the same by testing missile launches. These missiles include North Korea trying to build their nuclear weapons program, which is rivaled by the United States and Russia.
With technology comes knowledge, which comes power. In the documentary about North Korea, Kim Jong-un, the supreme leader, takes societies technology away. Without the technology, they must rely on the supreme leaders to relay information back to them. Thus, leading the citizens to believe anything the so-called leader says is true. Meaning that the leaders could and will tell the citizens whatever they please.
North Korea is a black hole from the outside because we have no way of seeing on what 's going on in the inside. The literal walls block any any views from outside in. The people of North Korea are constantly being watched, “North Korea purchased 16,420 closed-circuit surveillance cameras from China in the first 11 months of last year as the regime stepped up the monitoring of its own people” (North Korea). Kim Jong-Un spent hundreds of millions of dollars to keep an eye on everything that happens. Much like in the 1984 Big Brother had installed telescreens in every room.
The current relationship between South Korea and North Korea is very similar to how the United States and the Soviet Union were in the Cold War. As the World War II came to an end, so did the Japanese occupation in the Korean peninsula from the Soviet
In North Korea, being in the Mass Games is a huge accomplishment. You train for hours on end so you will look exactly the same, as if you are becoming one. Even the military is so disciplined that they look exactly the same. But, the people in North Korea are different from the citizens in 1984 because they still have individual personalities. The Party convinces these people to all believe the same ideas and have the same opinions.
Recently, there was a lot of debates going on about the United States military stationing in Korea. Some questioned that why should America pay for their defence, and showed discomfort. They thought Korea should pay all of the cost for the United States military, but Korea should not be obligated to charge all of them because of Korea’s Environmental problems caused by the United States’ military, America’s benefits on money saving, and for war deterrent purpose. In July 23, 2015, Donald Trump sniped Korea with the issue of heavy reliance on American military.
Really, do we want our children and grandchildren growing up again facing the threat of nuclear war as we did,on a daily basis ? We are a more mature society than that . Mr. President , I ask you to strongly consider dispensing with the tweets, it's simply unprofessional, and focus more on conducting yourself as a representative of the great people's of the United States of America. In business terms, think of
North Koreans can’t have international calls or any contact with the people outside the country (Doe). The only opinion that’s permitted to be heard is the governments, and the people must trust it regardless of what (Doe). In conclusion, North Korea is a nation in which a wide range of media including TV, and webs are controlled. Human rights are continuously being disregarded, along these North Koreans government is untamed, brutal, and unreasonable.
