MORGANTOWN, W.Va.--The West Virginia University baseball team split a doubleheader with Jacksonville on Saturday afternoon at Monongalia County Ballpark.
“Doubleheaders are such a beating,” WVU head coach Randy Mazey said. “At 5:30 this afternoon we were up 8-1 and as soon as that game ended they made up a seven run deficit. “The score goes to 0-0, they catch life and come out swinging the bats, and that’s why every coach in the world tries to avoid doubleheaders at all cost because the team that loses the first game has the momentum going into the second game just cause they tied it up. They came out swinging; you have to give them credit. They hit one of our best pitchers and they earned that one. We struck out 13 times in that second game,

However, WVU got the run right back in the bottom half of the inning on a Jackson Cramer home run to right center.
The Mountaineers added another run in the sixth to go ahead 5-1.
In the seventh inning, WVU tacked on three more runs. Cramer and Kyle Davis scored on Stephens ' throwing error. Cole Austin then scored on Hill 's base hit up the middle.
In game two, Jacksonville got the scoring started in the first. Conner Dotson walked Scott Dubrule and he scored on Evan Fernandez 's double. Dotson labored much of the inning but limited the damage to just one run.
The junior right-hander continued to struggle in the second. He loaded the bases and Nathan Koslowski hit a grand slam to right field, giving the Dolphins a 5-0 advantage.
After Dotson gave up and base hit to Dubrule and fell behind 2-0 on Fernandez, Mazey made a call to the bullpen, bringing in Isaiah Kearns. The freshman righty gave up two more runs before getting out of the inning.
The Mountaineers picked up a run in the third and one in the fourth. Austin’s RBI single scored Cramer from second and pulled WVU with 7-2.
Sam Armstrong 's dinger in the seventh extended the Dolphins lead
MORGANTOWN, W.Va.--Jackson Cramer and Kyle Davis both had three hits apiece as West Virginia University thumped in-state rival Marshall 14-7 on Tuesday at Monongalia County Ballpark. The Mountaineers (16-10) scored 14 runs on 16 hits. The Thundering Herd (12-14) drove in seven runs on 10 hits while committing five errors. Cramer went 3-for-6 with a home run and a double.
The story hasn 't changed of late, Jeff Locke continued the strong streak of Pirates ' pitching in a 3-2 win over the White Sox yesterday; Gerrit Cole will look to do the same tonight against Jeff Samardzija and the White Sox. Last night, the Pirate bats exploded in the first inning by putting up three runs in a hurry, but that 's all they could muster throughout the night. If Locke and the Pirates ' bullpen wouldn 't have been so good, the Pirates -- more than likely -- would 've added a tally to the loss column.
The sophomore right-hander surrendered two runs on six hits while fanning nine. Kyle Davis and Jimmy Galusky both homered for WVU. Freshman Brandon White tied a career-best three hits. The Mountaineers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on Cole Austin 's RBI
On February 25 the Titans and Wolfpack played a game of coed softball at the United High School baseball field. Both the Titans and Wolfpack ended the game with a tie going into three innings. Final score for both teams was 2-2. The Titans started the game by batting first.
After leaving one runner on second in the previous inning, the eighth looked as if the Boom would at least tie, if not take the lead. Daniel Sweet (Dallas Baptist), Michael Gizzi (State College of Florida) and Matt Gandy (Creighton) worked consecutive base-on-balls to load the bases with no one out. Sanford made a pitching change, with Cody Henry (Alabama) coming to the plate. He lined a frozen rope over a ducking Gizzi, right at the short stop, who beat Gizzi back to the second base bag, for the double play. Sweet scampered home, as the first pitch of Garrett Wolforth’s (Dallas Baptist) at-bat, got away from the catcher.
When they returned it was the fourth quarter and Billy made his two shoots but the other team scored another goal. When there was 1
October 27th, 2011. Game 6. Two outs, bottom of the 9th. Two strikes, two runners on base. The team down 7-5.
Eight baseball players made a decision that ruined their lives. Eddie Cicotte, Claude Williams, Arnold Gandil, Charles Risberg, George Weaver, Joe Jackson, Oscar Felsch, and Fred McMullin called home after an evening of confessing. Did confessing lead to more years of imprisonment and fines or did it bring nothing to their plate to overcome. Black Sox baseball scandal is a malicious disaster for the teammates involved because of all the cheating during the game, how the gambling went down, and all the investigating. To Chicago fans the World Series was a given win, but to the players they would have to play below the sub par and manage to gamble so they could lose the whole series.
Andrus noticed that Padres pitcher Kevin Quackenbush wasn 't paying attention from the stretch, and he stole home on the righty to make it 8-4. That 's playing with energy, playing lose, and having fun, all vital when making a
"And next up is little Alexander Stroble", the speakers blare. He wobbles up to the plate, the helmet on his head making him unbalanced with each step. With the bat in his hand and the ball in his eyesight, he was ready to hit the best homerun of his life. His coach throws him a level pitch and he swings, and misses. "Strike one" ,the umpire yells, but that doesn’t phase him; he knows he has two more tries.
Florida was up by six on LSU’s last possession with four minutes to go. They drove down into the red zone and on 1st and goal got it to the five. Ok, 2nd and goal at the 5 LSU gets it to the one-yard line and has two plays to score. I can feel my heart beating staring at the TV. Here we go, LSU hands it off to the full back, Florida gets a nice defensive push and stops it.
The last touchdown was made by Miami 4th down and goal along with the extra point kick leaving the final score at Miami 41-8. While watching this game I learned about how the downs and yards work. A team gets four downs and they try to make ten yards in those four downs if they do that the downs reset back to one down and the team tries to make another ten yards or into the endzone depending on where the ball is. A fun fact about college football is the first game took place on November 6, 1869 between Rutgers University and
The Sea Eagles hit back to level the scores 12-all at halftime after earning multiple repeat sets to pressure Wests Tiger’s try line. Chee Kam broke the line before passing to Delroy Berrman to cross under the posts and cut the deficit to 12-6.
That is the end of the 4th quarter”. Mariners won by 8 points. “Mariners scored 30 points and the vikings scored 22 points!”said the announcer.
The locker room was as quiet as the Alaskan wilderness. Everyone had a nervous look on their faces, and the coach was unusually quiet. Conner put on some music to loosen the mood while Noah did his tradition of breaking either a chair or the trash can, he broke both. We odds were not in our favor and we all knew that. West Kent is fast, big,
