I found Dr. Van Der Kolk to have an interesting point of view for a medical doctor. He believed that people need more than medication in order to get well. In my opinion has taken more of a counselor’s position when it comes to his patients and that is something that I can identify with. I believe that not all mental health problems can be solved by medication alone. Our clients should be able to talk about different feeling and things they are going through. It allows them to process and deal with underlying issues. By seeing his clients through this lens Van Der Kolk was able understand his clients on a deeper level.
