1.1 Background of study Kampung Beting is located at Kuala Pilah district of Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia and is located 6 kilometer from Kuala Pilah district and 2 kilometer from UiTM Negeri Sembilan. It is a village that are surrounded with rubber and palm tree and it is nearby with Kampung Parit Tinggi.The terrain of Kampung Beting consist of high land and lowlands and are located on the hilly area of Kuala Pilah. The weather condition of Kampung Beting are mostly temperate and the average temperature of Kampung Beting is 27oC.In conjuction to the ecosystem,dragonfly can be used as environment indicator as their diversity are related to four landscape type which plantation forest,parkland,residential area and industrial area. They are equipped with two pairs of independently controlled wings granting an unmatchable flying performance and robustness (Cauceiro et al., 2011). In dragonfly morphology,they have strong thorax and flying muscle that are adapted remarkably (Asahina et al., 2013). adult dragonflies are well adapted in flying and catching their prey as they flight.dragonflies can reach the speed of 97kilometer/hour and they are able to adapt to fly backwards,sideways,hover and change their direction in flash.The wing of dragonfly cannot be folded at rest and fused to the flight muscle in their thorax area,thus when their muscle contract,their wing beats…show more content…
Dragonflies have been use as indicator to monitor habitat and water quality changed due to their outstanding model organisms (Clausnitzer et al.,2011) .Dragonfly can be used as indicator by the basic knowledge of their habitat preferences and their species richness in a given habitat. (Cleary et al., 2004).Dragonfly,that is a tool of bioindicator of environmental condition in aquatic habitats,may be affected by the diversity of their adult in specifified altered riparian vegetation area (Carvalho et al., 2013). Danial, (2013) show when the habitat quality of an ecosystem changes,the dragonflies also will yield a change in their diversity and also distribution as their species are prone to pollution and habitat quality.This makes them as an easy tool to evaluate and monitor the habitat quality.Dragonfly are used as indicator for wetland conservation (Bried et al., 2007).
