It is important for the CLS program to invest in me specifically because I am unable to go and study in the Middle East without the funding provided by this scholarship. It is highly unlikely that an opportunity to travel to one of the different countries available would arise that I could feasibly take. I also believe that I should be invested in because I have developed a great passion for the Arab language and culture since I have started studying them. Initially, I began studying Arabic because my Arabic professor was so passionate and excited about the language and the ability to teach it to students. However, as I began studying the language and going through the classes, I soon fell in love with the language. I find that both the written …show more content…
A dramaturg is someone who does much of the background research for a theatrical or operatic production. This can include things such as historical research or cultural research. In order to follow through with career choice, it is necessary for me to obtain a doctorate in Dramaturgy. A prerequisite for entering any of the programs is proficiency in a language. Since I plan on continuing with Arabic, I want to begin working with Arabic scripts. I would like to translate these scripts into English so that there is a connection developing between the Arab World and the United States culturally. This ability to translate Arabic scripts would also give me a unique advantage in my field. Most people who enter into this career choice generally choose the romantic languages to work with. By speaking Arabic, I would create a beneficial opportunity for myself in that I could not only translate the scripts to accuracy, but also understand the cultural background behind the words being written. I think that currently there is a lack of non-European influence in the Theatre and that by beginning to work with Arab playwrights and American theatre groups, it will begin to create a tighter community between the two different
Hello again, I am so sorry I’ve emailed you so many times but I would really really like to meet one on one with Gerardo. My initial meeting that was scheduled for February 14th, I had to cancel due to being very sick and not wanting to spread it to him or his family. Are there any open slots? God bless, Rachal Adent
I have been doing some thinking about our conversation a few days ago and have concluded that I will take you up on the offer! I just sold my old bike and now have some money left over that I can use to pay for those seminars. I am going to see how soon I can get this done, I am going to look at the dates and send my form in. I will keep you posted on the status of things as they get processed.
As it is difficult to learn, and it’s easy to be envious of other people who have seemingly mastered the language in what seems to be
“Theatre is a form of knowledge; it should and can also be a means of transforming society. Theatre can help us build our future, rather than just waiting for it.” (Boal) Applied theatre is an umbrella term that covers theatre and drama in non-traditional settings with marginialised members of societies; with focus customarily on relevant social and cultural issues of those socieities. The Applied Theatre Reader by Tim Prentki and Sheila Preston consists of chapters by various authors who have experienced and been involved with the practice of applied theatre first-hand, and who share these experiences in the book. Three chapters that I found interesting and engaging were Chapter 7 (“Lift your mask”), Chapter 39 (“Is this the play?”), and Chapter
For me it was hard to understand the language and the writing and in there you have to learn the language. When I was a kid my parents taught me the language and writing. But we did not read any books at all and it was not good for me. And it was fun to learn my language but I’m forgetting the language.
The following story was published anonymously in an Aboriginal newspaper [15]. Like many of our mob, my first label was ‘abandoned’, then ‘ward of the State’ which was the start of a journey that for many years I felt wasn’t mine to have. Years later, when I found my way home, both parents had passed on, although the stories and labels that I grew up believing were a misrepresentation of the actual truth.

Professionally Not Professional Young people may be so naïve that they believe that it is professionally okay to send out an email to other professionals that uses slang, bad grammar, or misspelling within it. Get Moving;” told a room of young college students that if they are hoping to seek professional work after college, then they need to have great writing, analytical, and social skills.
Growing up in Mississippi was hard, I had many chores and limited in fun activities. I mean it wasn’t a lot of fun things to do but my sibling and I did what we had to do to get through the long hot summer days. My dad was a bricklayer and somedays I would sit a watch him craft his art by using different stones to build houses and storge unites. Not only did I find this fascinating but it was also fun to see the finishing project.
Personal Narrative Every kid or teenager has disobeyed their parents thinking that they were right and their parents were wrong. Instead of cleaning your room or doing homework you choose to play a video game or go outside. When I was in 5th grade I did the same, except the consequence wasn’t just getting yelled at. I ended up going to the hospital, at 8 p.m. When this accident happened, I was in 4th grade and living in California. I had a giant backyard with plenty of room to play in, a pond, and a huge playset.
I could leave in the knowledge that I had done all that I could to ensure that these young girls would continue to receive the care and opportunities we had been able to offer over the years. In supporting these children, I had paid forward a debt of all the kindness, love, and opportunities that I had received over the course of my life. I was blessed with an opportunity to return a little of that and I am confident that my African children will continue to receive support to carry them to a better future and out of a life of quiet desperation. 40. Conclusion.

I am glad to hear that Dr. Grant Ferguson has referred me to your office, and upon reading Congressman Romero’s history, I believe that working together would be a great partnership. My internship background includes working for United States Congresswoman Kay Granger. At her office, I learned many office skills such as printing and copying, opening and sorting mail, and other general administrative skills. I also became much more familiar utilizing Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel. My main responsibility was documenting, in detail, constituents concerns and comments, and adding it to an aggregate data system.

“You can’t see other people’s point of view when you have only one language,” declared psycholinguist, Frank Smith. Just as it is mentioned in this quote, foreign language is important; therefore, people should learn a foreign language at an early age. When learning a foreign language at an early age, it helps people to concentrate and increase comprehension skills.
