Since I started participating in the CBAs, I have become active in the Houston-area HLS Alumni Association as a member of its Board of Directors. By way of example, in March 2016, I introduced two black HLS alumni, both of whom were elected to high municipal office in Houston, Mayor Sylvester Turner and Council Member Amanda Edwards, at a reception in their honor sponsored by the Association. It is unlikely that I would have been interested in becoming involved with the local HLS Alumni Association to the extent that I have were it not for the CBAs. It was not necessary for David to take on the work entailed in organizing the CBAs to satisfy his community service at the Law School. But following through as he did to make the CBAs happen illustrates, as clearly and powerfully as anything else I could cite, how truly special David is to the HLS community, and what an extraordinary Dean he would make.

Iowa State University is home to many astounding buildings that have tested the sands of time. As you walk through campus you may see the Old Farmhouse building that houses a great museum or the grand buildings of Beardshear and Curtis halls, but one building that you should direct your attention to rather than just walk by every day, as I had done in the past, to truly understand its history and meaning, is Catt Hall. This building has gone through many decades of change and accomplishment and is one of the most important buildings on campus through its help of Women’s suffrage with Carrie Chapman Catt, changes in departments, and withstanding demolition wishes of its amazing architectural design. Catt Hall is one of the oldest buildings here on
Augustana College has been around since before slavery was abolished. Naturally, this will lead to multiple changes in the campus policies, the norms of campus society, and on student’s behavior. Furthermore, how is it different from campus today? This analysis will analyze Augustana College during the 1950’s, and discuss what was common in that time, what is different, and how it changed.

On Monday November 27, individuals gathered together to attend the Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) induction ceremony. AKD is the International Sociology National Honor Society where members have shown excellence in the field of Sociology. In this ceremony, four students from the University of Tampa were inducted and congratulated on their hard work. To influence attendees who were not yet inducted into AKD and to inspire those who were just inducted, a professor at UT, Brittany Harder, gave a speech that lasted for approximately 45 minutes. She started out speaking about how she first got involved with Sociology.
A weakness of selecting certain sorority members based on the author’s discretion holds bias because of its convenient sampling. Robbins’ selection of particular participants may not fully represent the population, even though Robbins indicated that one of the sorority members would be a positive representative of the national organization. In addition, the participants are only from one institution and a small sample size. Robbins’s lack of details of her methodology of how she obtained their experiences and not using real names or locations to conceal her sources' identities lacks credibility. In addition, this challenges higher education professionals can do to solve these issues of superficial values and dangerous practices, especially since all sorority houses tend to have different reputations on different
These experiences included students eating, sleeping, studying, socializing, and worshipping together. Only privileged white male students were allowed to attend college during the seventeen century. Families sent their son’s to school to prepare them as Christian leaders, and clergy had high
An Alpha Sigma Phi who lives the value of Purity “does not shrink from adversity or lofty goals”. To embody this value, as a chapter we had to reevaluate why we chose to join Alpha Sigma Phi. As a Brotherhood we understood that our main goal is to further ourselves as gentleman, striving to become the future leaders of tomorrow. To achieve that goal we must improve ourselves as scholars, and stress the importance of growing as a person both morally and academically.
Over the next few years North Carolina Central University will be more diverse in the student body because of the world itself is already diversed. NCCU will have more diversity over the next years because of the academics that it provides, the motto that we stand by “Truth and Service” and because of the generous people that work here. Also the professors that teach the students the outstanding knowledge that will lead them and stick with them for the rest of their lives. NCCU was founded by James E. Shepard and opened on July 5, 1910. His reason for building the institution was because in that era in time the support for African American education in the southern states was very limited.
Within any particular system, there is present an underlying motive for success in every sense of the word. While in some scenarios, that motive can be hidden beneath the desire to fit in, above all this, the idea of prosperity is the main factor in motivating individuals toward their goals. Susan Faludi, the author of “The Naked Citadel”, explores how at the all-boys college, students are pressured into conforming to the “Whole Man” standard where they develop brotherhood, a sense of structure, and belonging. When these men are able to develop such strong bonds with one another, several flaws come about. The majors issues at The Citadel, lie in their denial of women into the school, and the traumatic hazing new students endure.
This house inhabits thousands of different personalities and each year, new ones are added. This year marks the 130 year anniversary of success at the University of Nebraska, which means there have been 130 different pledge classes and endless memories. However, Delta Gamma was not an instant success, this house stands here today thanks to George Banta, who was Delta Gamma’s only mail initiate, he was actually a member of Phi Delta Theta, he worked towards making Delta Gamma a true sorority for women, which was unheard of at the time. There were solely only fraternities on campuses around the United
