Born to a upper lower class family, Dwight D. Eisenhower went on to become a powerful five star general and the commander and chief of the United States of America. On October 14, 1890, Dwight D. Eisenhower was born to David Jacob Eisenhower and Ida Stover Eisenhower. Growing up in a low income family with six older brothers, the Eisenhower family was unable to put all of their sons through college. As a result Eisenhower entered the United Army Academy at West Point, from the Academy Eisenhower would begin his political and military career. During World War II Eisenhower would be promoted to the rank of a five star general and would go to plan one of the greatest invasion strikes in history, D-Day.
