Columbine. When I first heard the word, I didn’t think that much of it because I had no idea what it meant or how it affected so many people. It took one class period to learn that it was a high school, a crime scene, and an event that devastated the small town of Littleton, Colorado. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris. Sounded like two normal boys’ names and when I found out their involvements at the school I thought they were kind, involved, and popular. But these two boys went to their own high school with a plan for a bombing, when that bombing failed they turned to an unplanned shooting that killed twelve students, one teacher and injured twenty people. April 20th. Seems like a normal sunny day in April. But in 1999 on this day, the events of Columbine happened. A day that everyone in Littleton will always remember. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, the depressive and the psychopath, were the ones behind the massacre that happened on April 20th.
Dylan Klebold was a very depressive young man. He was born on September 11, 1981, and

He was born on April 9, 1981, and was 18 years old when he and his friend did Columbine. He met his soon to be accomplice, Dylan Harris in 8th grade. Eric wanted to join the Marines and he took the steps to apply, the application was rejected shortly before the shooting. For he was taking the drug Luvox®, an SSRI antidepressant that he was taking because of his anger management therapy. Eric was on many websites where he would post rants or graphic content. In 1997 Wayne Harris, Eric’s father, started logging all of his son’s problems. The bombing was planned for April 19th, to coincide with the Oklahoma bombing, but for some reason, they were set back to the 20th. Many people said that he was a ‘normal guy’ and nobody saw this coming. Eric Harris died in the library next to his friend, Dylan Klebold, by placing the barrel of his sawed-off shotgun in his mouth and pulling the
On August 5, 2012, a Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin was the center of a most horrific attack resulting in the death of several people. That August Sunday morning the congregation of the Oak Creek Sikh Temple was gathering to pray and worship like any other but instead of everyone leaving in peace six people of the community were fatally shot and others wounded. According to ABC news the gunman behind this shooting was identified as Wade Michael Page (2012). A bald headed, middle aged, Caucasian, male, with extensive amounts of tattoos on his body.
Eric Harris was by all accounts a normal high school teenager. Former classmate, Kyle Ross, said, “He was a typical guy. He didn’t seem anything like what is portrayed on TV”. Eric was nothing like what they made him out to be after the Columbine shooting but after it took place, many untold secrets came out that were both crucial and imperative regarding Eric and Dylan.
In 1995, Timothy McVeigh was responsible for making a bomb and blowing up a federal building in Oklahoma, which earned him the title of the most prolific mass murder in America (Saferstein, 2105). Using a moving truck to house and transport the bomb, he parked it at the federal building and simply walked away (Saferstein, 2105). Shortly after, the truck bomb exploded with such force, it killed 168 people and completely ruined the building (Saferstein, 2105). As fate would have it, he was stopped driving a vehicle by a state trooper for having no license plate later that same morning and arrested for transporting a firearm (Saferstein, 2105). This was fortunate for investigators to take custody of McVeigh after they discovered evidence that
Upon detonation the bomb tore all the north side of the federal building. This act of terrorism began an era in United States history that would have a toll for years to follow. (1) In the days, weeks and months following this terrible act, many public agencies,
April 19th, 1995, a truck bomb exploded outside the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (“Oklahoma City Bombing", 2009). The bombing killed 168 people, including 19 children and infants, and 650 more injured (“Oklahoma City Bombing", 2009). The bombing damaged or destroyed over 300 buildings near the bomb sight (“Oklahoma City Bombing", 2009). The man responsible for this horrendous event was man by the name of Timothy McVeigh ("Timothy McVeigh Biography", 2016). Timothy McVeigh was your normal run of the mill citizen, growing up in the typical working class environment in rural New York, and joining the Army in 1988 ("Timothy McVeigh Biography", 2016).
The Oklahoma City Bombing What started as a normal day turned into one of the most deadly bombing attacks in Oklahoma’s History. Claiming hundreds of lives, no one could have foretold the damage done by the bomb to the surrounding area nor to the people who have been affected for a lifetime. The Oklahoma City Bombing with lethal effects, was perpetrated by Timothy McVeigh, and caused the government to rethink security measures. Many lives will never be the same after a act of revenge caused catastrophic results. At 9:00 a.m. on April 19,1995, Timothy McVeigh parked a ryder rental truck in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building(“Oklahoma City Bombing”).
The Oklahoma City bombing was a large tragedy that ruined families and took many lives. Timothy showed iniquity by not thinking of any of the precious lives due to the hatred he had for the government. Timothy McVeigh committed an unforgivable crime on Wednesday April 19, 1995. McVeigh took 168 lives and injured 842 people by bombing the Alfred P. Murrah building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (Casey). Many Americans argued weather McVeigh should live or die.
The Oklahoma City Bombing On April 19, 1995, a man named Timothy James McVeigh had planned to bomb the federal building in Oklahoma City in order to prove a point. He believed that what he did was a protest against the government and felt no remorse for his actions. McVeigh wasn't the only suspect who was a part of this attack. Two other men named Nichols and Fortier were also guilty of this crime.
The government came under scrutiny for having daycares in federal buildings since clearly the buildings had become easy targets for attacks, which caused fear from many parents . Interestingly enough, psychologist warned that someone like McVeigh would come from the generation born in the 1960’s and McVeigh was born in 1968 so he fit this warning that was clearly ignored which was somewhat why McVeigh wanted to attack the government because they did not listen to people. This attack struck the fear into many citizens that they were no longer safe, which was also argued by McVeigh. This attack was rather effective due to the fact the fears were ones McVeigh had pointed out that the government was already actually doing before his own actions. He was also ineffective, as the government in the US really has not changed that greatly.
The Oklahoma City bombing took place on April 19, 1995. There were hundreds of victims and hundreds of family and friends of those victims. Even though this event happened nearly 20 years ago, it still reminds me of service, honor, and kindness, the foundation of the American standard. Right after the incident, police rushed to the scene and started to rescue the people that were trapped or injured.
One of the Darkest Days in Oklahoma On April 19, 1995, one of the deadliest attacks on our nation happened in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The attack happened on the Alfred P. Murrah Building at approximately 9:00 A.M. A Ryder rental truck that was parked in the front of the nine-story building in downtown Oklahoma City caused the explosion.
On April 20, 1999, two teens named Eric Harris (18), and Dylan Klebold (17), went on a shooting spree at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. They ended up killing 13 people and wounding over 20 others before turning their guns on themselves and committing
He killed two students and wounded a third before shooting his algebra teacher in the back. Three years later, April of 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold launched their infamous attack on Columbine High, Colorado, the slaughtering had continued. Threw the thirty-two killed and seventeen wounded by Seung- Hui Cho in Virginia Tech in 2007. What Gladwell has believed that “school shootings mostly involve young white men”, they were scattered instances of gunmen or bombers that has attacked schools in the years before Barry Loukaitis but had been lower profile.
On April 20, 1999, two disturbed teenage boys Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris began a killing rampage at Columbine High School in the suburban town of Littleton, Colorado. This was considered one of the worst school shootings to occur at that time. In the morning of April 20, before noon, the two juveniles had killed 13 people to include 12 students and 1 teacher; they also wounded another 23 people before turning the guns on themselves. This event would change the theories as to why school shootings would occur. (History)
