E-government has become one of the essential policies needed for socio-economic growth and development in both developed and developing countries. As a tool for development, national and local governments have since the introduction of e-government initiatives in the early 1990s, taken advantage of the potential of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) utilization to reform their public sector institutions by devising new and better ways of efficiently and effectively dealing and delivering enhanced public services to citizens and Ghana is no exception. The project utilizes an innovative Public Private Partnership (PPP) model intended delivery value-added and convenience public services to the citizens of Ghana. Ghana’s e-government project therefore, is to deliver an electronic system designed to automate business registration and tax administrations at the Registrar General’s Department (RGD) and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). New systems deployed PPP model with Ghana Community Network Services (GCNet) and its technical partners for the GRA and the RGD, to include Tax payer and Tax Type Registration on the new tax system for GRA and company and business registration on the new e-registration system for RGD. As basis for access to variety of online government services including online tax returns, payments and appointments, scheduling and implementing a government portal, tax payers, existing customers and new organizations are required to register through the new system and of GRA and RGD. GRA customers will receive new registration numbers, certification of incorporation and certificate to commence business.
