E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial Film The E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial Film was released on June 11, 1982 and turned out to be a big hit. This is a fantasy/science fiction film. I will start off, by giving you a summary of the film, then will move on to discuss my thoughts on the religious elements of the film. As I stated above, the film took place in the year of 1982, so it is a pretty old film. I remember watching it as a kid, but didn’t quite remember it, so I ended up watching it again. The film is about two hours long, and is about this extra-terrestrial who is left behind on earth. While his stay on earth, he meets a little boy named, Elliott. Elliott and E.T.’s first encounter does not go so well. When Elliott first saw him, he reacted with fear and ran away and so did E.T. The following day Elliott decides to find E.T. again, so he set a trail of candies out in the woods. The trail of candies was successful, because E.T. ended up coming back to Elliott. Once E.T. came back, …show more content…
E.T. was the only one who was not from that world (earth). A lot of people would say that both E.T and Christ were “extra-terrestrials” they both came from different worlds. So you could say that in this film E.T. was “Christ.” The film had a lot of religious elements, once you think about it. E.T. was friendly and caused no harm to people, but good. Another major religious element, I saw was the fact that E.T. had healing powers. In the film, Elliott gets a cut and E.T. heals him with just a touch. He also had other powers, for example, in the film he brought a dead plant back to life, he could manipulate other body to feel what he was feeling (Elliott) and he made Elliott’s bike fly a couple times throughout the film. We all have different beliefs, but if I remember correct Christ had healing powers, as well along with other powers. This was one of the 2nd major religious elements I

A Christ Figure is a literary character whose actions are homogeneous with that of Jesus Christ. A Separate Peace, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and Cool Hand Luke are all works that incorporate a Christ Figure as one of their characters. Some of the actions exhibited by these characters include the performing of miracles, a last supper, a death and resurrection, and the betterment of their fellow peers. Christ Figures in literature commonly perform a number of miracles, which their acolytes once viewed as infeasible. McMurphy, the Christ Figure in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. is placed on a hospital ward brimming with hopeless patients under the control of an authoritarian nurse.
Refugees are people flee their home countries to another country for better life due to the war in their home counties. The story of The Other Side the Sky by Farah Ahmedi is about an Afghanistan girl who had a physical disability tries to flee to the United States with her only family for better life. More than 75 years ago, a group of refugees were trying to flee Europe before World War II. They were Jews. Anne Frank, the author of The Diary of a Young Girl.
Kristen D Randle wrote, “Listen very hard and follow your heart. Your heart is good. It’s your brain that gets you in trouble.” in the book The Only Alien On the Planet. Ginny; the main character is in love with Michael but he will not open up to her and he won’t even talk to anyone.
Allusions to Christ or other aspects of religion are found in literature all throughout history. There are many different reasons why authors tie in these elements of religion. It could be to provide characterization or help provide reasoning and explanation for the overall theme. Two well known authors do this in some of their most famous pieces: Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald.
You can’t scroll through Facebook without coming across the familiar face of Giorgio Tsoukalos from the show Ancient Aliens. With those outstretched arms, squinty eyes, and mad trademark crazy hair (which seems to get wilder every season) he’s the star of a thousand internet memes usually sporting an “Aliens” caption. He’s undoubtedly the star of the show and thanks to his popularity and internet fame almost everyone knows who he is, even if they’ve never seen the show. History Channel’s Ancient Aliens is a documentary style TV series that showcases the theory of Ancient Aliens, which is the idea that that intelligent extra-terrestrial beings visited Earth and made contact with humans in prehistoric times. According to this theory almost all
Jesus is a figure that many authors use in their novels. By using characters that resemble him, they author is able to relate to the reader in context of hope and redemption, as well as to expand one’s thoughts on what exactly the concept of sacrifice entails. Obviously, there are many other ideologies in the world and Christianity, though popular, sometimes follows with some kind of negative connotation that would lead authors not to use Christ as a guide to a character. Foster addresses this conflict, saying, “we live in Christian culture… Culture is so influenced by its dominant religious systems that whether a writer adheres to the beliefs of not, the values and principles of those religions will inevitably inform the literary work” (Foster 124-125).
“With E.T., a fairy tale about a boy's friendship with an alien stranded on Earth, Spielberg made one of the most cherished films of its time. The movie made him a celebrity in his own right and even garnered him a United Nations Peace Medal. Spielberg's influence on U.S. culture in this period cannot be overestimated. Indiana Jones, E.T., and the shark [Jaws] became durable icons” (“Steven”). Given that, Steven Spielberg created a masterpiece by bringing in an alien for the first time into film, which therefore created an icon and symbol of American culture.

“Drops of Jupiter” has been my favorite song since the first day it graced my ears. The Train hit has a deeper meaning than when first heard. This song is phenomenal, the band is flawless, and the lyrics are beautiful; but the meaning behind the music is what makes “Drops of Jupiter” as amazing as it is. Having gone through several losses in my life, I am able to connect to the music that much more. Despite sounding romantic and sweet, it is actually a heart-warming song about accepting loss.
I think the movie Interstellar is mostly based on emotions and logic. It’s director Christopher Nolan said that The further out into the infinite we went and the more we isolated these characters who have to go across the universe, the more the focus naturally becomes on their humanity, on that intimate bond they have, what makes us human, all those issues{1}. I think what’s important for us to be humans is care for others more than ourselves .It helps in us in taking risks we usually fear to take to help others. The 2014-movie Interstellar directed by Christopher Nolan had a lot of people’s effort who did research in order to make the movie more realistic to real life experience.
