Abstract:
ERP systems have developed as solutions to manage organizations resources in an integrated manner. They supported the decision making needs of an organization by automating activities of different departments and making the information available to the users at the right time. However, although the implementation of these systems has brought various tangible as well as intangible benefits to the users, they still don’t cover all processes from all industries and sectors. Recognizing this limitation, many organizations have felt the need to implement specific solutions to their business, industry or sector. From the collected case study, the advantages and limitations of ERP implementation in the hospitality industry were analyzed.

Also, it was seen that there was dispersion of software applications of different origins with inevitable difficulties of construction and management of interfaces between these applications.
ERP Systems: Literature Review
Organizations aim to use information in the best possible way so as to maximize productivity. This has lead to, the problems of integration of information systems to be one of the most discussed topic in the recent years. This is mainly because they are several isolated tools in various environments leading to duplication of information and thereby different results.
The main problem of fragmented information is difficulty in finding consolidated information in one place. Another issue to be dealt with is inconsistency of redundant data stored in several systems. ERP systems solve these problems by consolidating, in one integrated system the various business processes.
ERP systems integrate and automate the functions of various departments and make information available in real time. They provide an overview of the organization’s

The inflexibility of these systems has been recognized as a limiting factor to their use. When organizations require a less expensive ERP solution with smaller implementation period they adopt systems, with processes designed in a standard form.
Another major difficulty in ERP implementation is that such systems require long implementation period. In large organizations, the implementation goes up to 3-5 years, which in an ever evolving business environment is too long a
Compared to other classes, this MIS class has at home quizzes, hands-on activities, and a more laid back environment. I believe that a ERP system is not efficient or effective when it comes to classes because it makes it harder to cater to the uniqueness of each subject. It would be difficult to work with the students because there would be more constraints on teaching and learning in general. Every class and student is different, which makes creating a ERP system difficult to implement. To measure the potential improvement that an ERP system could provide to classes, the school could look at student grades or take a survey of
One of biggest roadblock that companies have to face is to invest a lot of money on implementing a software system and have employees ignore it and keep trying to do the task in their own way. This the reason why the provider that you choose for implementing your software have to be a natural fit for the organization. If the owners and employees have the same passion and understanding of the product that they would implement the result would be a success (Phillips, 2016).
The difference between the two and three-tier client/server configuration, are the tiers (layers) that make up the systems. In a two-tier system you have a client and a server, each has the capability of doing the processing for the application (Brown, DeHayes, Hoffer, Martin, & Perkins, 2012). The software is loaded on the client computer, and access the data server directly. In a three-tier system, there is an additional server/computer between the client and data server; this third component contains the business logic or processing for the application (Brown, DeHayes, Hoffer, Martin, & Perkins, 2012; Luke, n.d.). A three-tier configuration could be a web-enabled business application.
P1: describe the potential prompt that initiate the installation of new upgraded software There are different reasons that would prompt people to upgrade their software. This could be the response to a bug that is identified or it can allow the hardware device to run more efficiently so that it can improve the functionality of the software when you upgrade it. You must be aware of these prompts so that when a software upgrade shows up you should always act with them in an appropriate manner in some situations it is important for ensuring the security of your computer systems. Problems with existing systems PC can become slower or develop a fault and to fix it, it would be necessary to install new software on the computer.
Information technology is more than just computers. Today, information technology must be conceived of broadly to encompass the information that businesses create and use as well as a wide spectrum of increasingly convergent and linked technologies that process the information. In addition to
Furthermore, the lecture succinctly defined the concept of interoperability as the ability of people, systems, and multi-facet organizations to work together collaboratively and cohesively to accomplish a common goal. The fact is that interoperability is
The Information technology is the process of planning, developing, implementing or managing computer or electronic based applications. Particularly, computer hardware and software applications which are helpful in storing, converting, protect and securely retrieve information. Since, it becomes unprecedented rate of development in technology during the last two decades. New technology inventions created a lot more opportunities to the IT companies efficient in solving complex problems and using collected information for future referral. On the contrast, current change models plays crucial role in implementing change in an organization.
From the case it is evident that Cisco’s ERP implementation was a success and the following are the success factors 1. Organizational structure – ERP implementations are relatively smoother in centralized organizations than in decentralized ones. Morgridge, Cisco’s CEO, maintained a centralized functional organisation – manufacturing, customer support, finance, HR, IT and sales organizations were centralized. Hence for Cisco it was more of software replacement than change management (compared to the kind of resistance to ERP and accompanying standardization in decentralized organizations).
Hannah Arendt born in Germany, worked as a U.S. political writer and philosopher. Her works were mostly related to political philosophy. In one of her work, “The Human Condition” Arendt suggests a three-way partition between the human activities as labor, work, and action. The activities have been arranged in hierarchal importance. Labor corresponds to that activity which are undertaken for fulfillment of biological necessities of human existence.
In this essay, I will speak about the International HRM Case Study - Brunt Hotels by Fiona L. Robson, complete the activities A, C, E, and G, and answer to the questions provided in the assignment. First off, let's see what is about this case and his purpose. The case provided is done with the purpose of understanding the issues involved in domestic and international recruitment and selection in different types of industries. In hotel industry for example, as we have the Brunt Hotels case that helps us to understand and learn how to logically apply the theory to the practical situation in other industries too. Industries that prepare to expand their markets internationally, industries that need to evaluate well and analyze the implications
The aim of this case study is to investigate the applicability and functionality of organizational theories in Hilton Hotels Corporations. This condition led me towards problem related with shortage of time at the time of submission of the project. On other hand, I also faced some critical issues related with understanding and interpreting the subject and research context. Prior to the project, I used to possess only elementary knowledge of Management Information System and its implication in real life scenario. In
We can divide the main management systems into five categories: • Central database: Property Management System (PMS); • Bookings: Central Reservation System (CRS); • Revenue: Revenue Management System (RMS); • POS: Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS); • Marketing: Customer Relationship Management (CRM). • This strategy began to be used especially for PMS, but also for banquets management systems. Hilton has adopted this approach with OnQ solution (for which they spend $50 millions) that integrates accounting systems and revenue management and PMS of all institutions of the group within a single database to support hotel reservations & sales, guest service, operations and business intelligence-gathering activities. Each transaction instantly appears in the centralized system.
InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) is among the largest hotel of the world and comprises of hotel seven hotel brands. Such as Holiday Inn, InterContinental, Hotel Indigo, Candlewood, Crowne Plaza, Staybridge Suites, and Holiday Inn Express. IHG also has to face the problem of credit crunch due to which their performance and growth has been impacted adversely. This hotel enjoys strong presence in the era of economic uncertainty such as credit crunch and fears of recession because of its famous brand Holiday Inn. However, in these years of crisis the share of the group dropped by about 50% because of presence of credit crunch.
The information system provides the basic data on the informational database. To the enterprise, the information system has two subsystems are related. There is data processing or information supplying sub-system and a decision making sub-system. The responsible the data processing system are for acquiring, coding, processing and forwarding the information for the activity and operation. The responsible for decision making subsystem are the effect of directly or indirectly with management processes from data-processing systems.
