I was notified by Monster.com early this morning that Greater Johnstown School District is accepting applications for permanent full-time elementary teachers. Seeking additional information about Greater Johnstown School District, I went to the website to view the district’s value and mission. I was thrilled to discovered my educational values and vision parallel the School District’s mission; which is to create a safe, positive learning environment through which to meet students’ diverse needs as they develop the skills, attitude, and knowledge essential to reach their full potential and succeed in our global society.
My teaching career began in Memphis, TN teaching a suburban kindergarten class of 25 students. Since that first group of students taught in 1986, I have taught various elementary grades across multiple states including an additional kindergarten class in TN; a first grade, a fifth grade, a fourth-fifth grade split, and a fifth-sixth grade split in Gastonia, NC; as well as two second grade classes in Columbia, SC. However, not only do I have experience in the suburban classroom, but also in the inner city classroom.

For two years, I taught second grade in a poverty stricken neighborhood in SC where most students came to school with issues ranging from hunger to parental abandonment. As a result, it was often necessary to address their basic needs before learning could take place; as well as to illustrate the relevancy of the classroom experience in building a viable and productive future for themselves. For me, this was an eye opening experience which played a significant role in shaping and developing the instructional style which I use
Khristy Hernandez 1AB Mrs.Carroll Place: Seabourn Elementary School, 1st graders Time: 4 hours and 14 minutes The point for this observation was to ask my mentor ‘ What has been the biggest challenge for her in relation to providing accommodations?’ And ‘ How she overcame that challenge?’ Her biggest challenge in relation to providing accommodations is the fact that you need to customize each kid's needs, like homeschooling, free lunch, and getting teachers to take out kids out of class for 15 minutes just to help them get better at reading or anything else.
Every day we develop better lesson plans, assessments and behavior plans and stronger instructional practices, we are helping to build a better world. Every day we take extra time to unlock the key to success for a student with our continuous improvement plans, our safe rides on our school busses, fixing an air conditioner, coach teachers and leaders and hiring the best and brightest, we are building a better world. We will celebrate our ten schools receiving an A or B letter grade. We had seven schools receive a C and three schools in the D range. We can discuss how some of our schools struggled to find highly effective teachers in certain areas or how some of our schools did not show the needed grow because they didn’t have a strong enough focus on standards based instruction.

As a concerned parent, I am asking you to do so. Please take the time to visit and see the challenges our teachers face each day. These teachers go above and beyond with their time, patience, dedication, and commitment to the children in our community. However, they can not possibly maintain the excellence we have known so far if all of their resources are constantly being taken

The reading for this week discussed the ongoing changes in the field of early childhood education, providing insight on policies and trends that are relevant and key to the success of our youngest populations. The chapter provided details on the different types of programs and teaching values, as well as the different cultural and social identities and levels of education that make up the people that millions of families entrust their children to everyday. I enjoyed reading this chapter. It mentioned the push for higher quality educators and how there is an issue of funding that education which I feel feeds into some of the issues behind overall program quality and educator accountability. A lot of parents tend to blame themselves or their
Early Childhood Education: Theoretical Perspectives Abstract Studies confirm that high-quality education early in a child’s life leads to continued success in school, at work, and results in a healthier well-rounded student who is emotionally and socially strong. In most early childhood programs and schools, technology will be part of the learning background of the future. To make sure this new technology is used effectively, we must confirm that teachers are fully trained and supported. In this paper, theoretical perspectives of child development are discussed with the basic elements of learning program.
Most of my field work has been in The Akron Public School District which has allowed me to gain a lot of experience with urban youth students in the Akron area. I have been placed into preschool, Kindergarten, 1st grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, and high school classrooms which has allowed me to be given a wide variety of experiences with teachers and students. During my placement in the preschool classroom, I was able to learn about the importance of including lessons that enrich each area of a child’s development. While working with the Kindergarten students, I was able to observe a classroom that was run based on centers and small group instruction. I enjoyed working with the students in this classroom as many of the centers were game based which established a fun way for the students to learn.
I am currently a sophomore at Spring Arbor University, who is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education with a double minor in Spanish and Early Childhood Education. Currently, I would love to teach kindergarten or first grade, because I love the fact that these children still love coming to school and still love learning, not to mention the fact that I am very passionate about teaching students how to read. After I graduate with my bachelor’s degree, I plan to teach Spanish in a low socioeconomic area. However, because of my passion for the Spanish language, my ultimate dream would be to teach in a Spanish immersion school! As a freshman, I volunteered at Frost Elementary School in Jackson, Michigan as a literacy mentor for an organization
My Philosophy as an Early Childhood Educator I believe that children are young learners that can develop new skills through play, hands-on, and using concrete materials. As Friedrich Frobel once stated that play is a key role to explore the environment and learn from their experiences beginning from birth. This reflects why it’s important to have early education to build the base and the basic skills for their future development. There are many theories and pioneers that have helped us built and enforce our knowledge in Early Childhood Education field including children with any special needs.
The elementary school years are a crucial time for children, where they gain the fundamental skill necessary for their futures. The experiences of these years will have a lasting impression on their growth and development. We will focus on developing socio-emotional skills, mastering the Florida Standards skills, using data to inform instruction, consistent implementation of teaching strategies to increase students’ achievement, and providing exciting and challenging enrichment opportunities for all
Education has been in my family for as long as I can remember; right from my mom who is a proprietress of a private school (Aunty Maria Nursery and primary school, Meiran, Lagos), to my Dad who is a retired principal at Girls Model School, Bariga, Lagos. Although I ventured out of the educational field to study a science related course, I still find myself driven to the educational field, partly because it runs in my family. Being the only child of parents, my mom has always wanted me to earn a degree in education, especially early childhood education, so I can have the knowledge of childhood development and ultimately take over from her when she eventually retires. During my National Youth Service Corps, I was assigned to a public primary

The decisions I make in life are based on many self-asking questions, like am I impacting someone's life, how will it affect myself and my family, is this God’s plan for me, and is it a good idea financially. These questions are like looking at a smorgasbord asking yourself what food is good for you, which should you choose first. All the questions I asked myself are equally important to me. In my life I always wanted to be a positive impact on someone’s like, my dream of being a teacher will change children's life in many ways.
