Benefits of Early Marriage Workineh, Kibretb and Degu (2015, p.1) defined early marriage as “any marriage carried out below the age of 18 years old, before the girl is physically, physiologically, psychologically ready to shoulder the responsibilities of marriage and childbearing”. While according to Anderson, “marriage is about attaching a man and a woman to each other as husband and wife to be father and mother to any children their sexual union produce” (2013, pp. 1-2). Marriage is legally defined as an agreement by which a man and a woman enter into a legal relationship with each other by which creates and imposes mutual rights and duties. According to Lord Penzance in the case of Hyde v Hyde (1866) LR 1 P & D 130, marriage …show more content…
One of the benefits is regarding to the emotional aspect. Everyone has to face their own challenges every day. Sometimes, because of the challenges, people suffer emotional distress or depression. As a result, young people find a partner to get emotional support by getting married. According to Poston, Jr., Wen Shan Yang, Farris (2013, p.83), “historically, a number of studies have emphasized the benefits or marriage to married individual’s emotional, psychological and physical well-being compared to that of the unmarried person”. Certainly, through the marriage, young adults find a spouse or someone with whom they believe that they can share their distress and …show more content…
There is also evidence that show married couple lives healthier and live longer. In short, young adult marriage can be seen as a good trend as it brings benefits to the youngsters in emotional support, advice and guidance to overcome their depression. The society as a whole should encourage youngster to marry at the early age to curb the number death by suicide due to depression. Lastly, Islam also encourages young people to marry at the early age as marriage is one of the ways to complete his or her religion. As mentioned in the Hadith At-Tirmidhi, narrated by Anas Ibn Malik, Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "When a man marries, he has fulfilled half of the deen; so let him fear Allah regarding the remaining half" (Al-Tirmidhi Hadith
There are two major types of marriages in the world, arranged and love marriages. An arranged marriage is when a partner for one of the individuals is chosen by their family, and no love is usually involved. A love marriage on the other hand is when two individuals choose to marry each other because of the love they share for each other. A successful marriage is when both individuals can love, care, trust, and are happy with each other even through the ups and downs. Even though arranged marriages have their pros such as lower suicide and teen pregnancy rates, love marriages are more successful than arranged marriages because the individuals actually love each other from the start, there is the freedom of choosing their own spouse, and there
For example Leah was always involved with her family whereas Adah or Orleanna found different things to keep them occupied and happy whether that was house work for Orleanna or school for Adah. The only time marital status may have a false happy effect is when one is trying to get something out of the relationship but has nothing to put in. Don’t let marital status affect one’s happiness simply because that is what someone wants for their life. Rather let happiness find it’s way in based on everyday things one chooses to do. Marital status should only affect one’s life if they have a family or spouse to care for and love being around them and supporting them in everything
In “The Pursuit of Happiness: Characteristics of Happy People” R. Murali Krishna states that usually, a survey shows “married people are usually happier than unmarried people” (Krishna). Something to clear up is if you are married it doesn't necessarily mean that you will be happy. Marriage is a huge commitment. There are lots of ups and downs to add on. It'll be a different experience for everyone.
Weddings and marriages today look very different from those held during the Elizabethan times. Some rituals seen in the Elizabethan weddings are no longer done in modern day weddings; modern day marriages no longer have arranged marriages, brides do not marry at a young age, and brides do not have a dowry. One major aspect of Elizabethan weddings that is no longer seen in modern day weddings is arranged marriages. Some of the arranged marriages that went on during this time were organized at the birth of the child. In most cases, the women’s father would select the man he thought was most eligible for his daughter, but in other cases he would select the spouse he would most benefit from.
One of the most famous love stories, Romeo and Juliet, set during the Elizabethan era, is the story of two star-crossed lovers and the great lengths that they go through to show their love for their each other. Contrary to Romeo and Juliet, love emerges in a different way during modern times. Due to evolving times, love is much different today than during the Elizabethan era. Couples today are happier, because couples truly know each other and there are other options if a relationship does not work out.
However, today there is growing awareness of how harmful they can be, especially for young women. Arranged marriages lack the element of love and mutual consent, leading to a lack of normalcy for young women. This part of my essay will talk about the dangers of arranged marriages for young women. Firstly, arranged marriages restrict young women’s freedom of choice. In many cases, young women are forced into marriages against their will, often for the sake of financial gain or to maintain social status.
In the book Romeo and Juliet, we have learned that the opinions of marriage, are different among most people. Many parents have different opinions as well. Some are willing to give their son or daughter away at a really young age. Others are more sceptical about it. These parents want to keep care of their child for as long as they can.
Well, that is a false statement. The average age for a man to get married is twenty nine years old and the average age for a woman to get married is at twenty six. At the age of 14 and up most teens have no idea how to take care of themselves. Women that marry under the age of 18 are most likely to go into poverty because they drop out of school and, therefore, lack the knowledge of how to meet the family needs. Did you know about fifteen million girls are married before the age of eighteen each year?
In Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, the young couple gets married when Juliet is fourteen years old. In the fifteen century, during Romeo and Juliet’s time, marriage at a young age was extremely common, whereas in modern times many people get married close to thirty. Age is not the only wedding custom that differs today. Unlike the fifteenth century, in today’s society people are able to marry anyone they choose, people marry for much different reasons, and what is expected from the couple’s families have changed. Romeo and Juliet shows that marriage in the fifteenth century is between a man and women, and must be approved by the two families coming together in matrimony.
Also, arranged marriages from the parents decrease the chance of any physical or mental abuse. The author states, “The global divorce rate for arranged marriages was six percent compared to the fifty-five percent of normal marriages” (page2). This statement from the author proves that arranged marriages can and will last longer than a normal relationship. The claims that I have stated are a lot stronger than this one because the statistics here are not always proven every year throughout the world.
Marriage is one of the most important aspects of a woman’s life during this time. Women play many roles in marriage such as greeting their husband with a smile when he returns. It’s the women’s responsibility to provide the husband with a joyful home. It is the norm for most women to be involved in this type of marriage. That is the reason why most women get married, because that is what
Marriage helps individuals in staying together at all times despite the difficulties faced in life (Evans, 2014). A home is never one if a family in it is not happy and therefore, the satisfaction of marriage mainly lies in its stability and ability to create
Marriage strengthens the family bond, especially when a child is being born into the family. Like the saying goes, “it takes a village to raise a child.” The point mentioned in the video was marriage without consent would only lead to undesirable consequences. If one has decided to settle down with the partner of choice, it is without a doubt that the family will have a say regarding the marriage. One must ensure to be competent in taking care of the partner of choice as the family entrusts the responsibility to the individual.
Is there really a need to be married anymore? Does marriage actually benefit your relationship, or is it an outdated institution that we’ll be better off without? In this speech, I’ll convince you that marriage is a thing of the past, and that society’s views on marriage have changed enough in the past decade that marriage really isn’t necessary anymore. One of the main purposes of marriage is to maintain a permanent relationship, but nowadays marriage doesn’t lead to a permanent relationship due to the increase of divorce rates.
As a result, people can become stuck in an unhappy marriage, expressing distastes for one another and their interests. Oftentimes, divorce is not an option due to financial issues, religious beliefs, or cultural and family expectations. This could be avoided if the person developed a relationship with someone on their own instead of going into an arranged
