Lieutenant James Cook was assigned the duty of locating new lands for the British Crown in 1770 while he was on his expedition to observe the Transit of Venus. On this journey, Cook discovered new lands. Eighteen years later, the first fleet sailed from England and arrived in Australia on January 26, 1788, which is known as Australia Day and is observed every year to mark the arrival of the First Fleet. However, in recent times, there has been a discussion surrounding the suitability of this date and its importance to Indigenous Australians. Asalamualaykum, Today I would like to express my point on why we should change Australia Day, also known as Invasion Day, or as some others may call it, Survival Day.
Originally, it was called the ‘Foundation Day’ for the land but in 1935, was ‘promoted’ to Australia Day, a day for national unity. However, it didn’t make things much different because the very problematic reasonings remained and ultimately, Australia 's sincere identity still has yet to be seen. Firsty, the use of the celebration will continue to the criticism of being based on a race unless changed to a just substitution. Next, the Australian spirit isn’t truly upholded on this date because of the poor basis that branches out from the past and anyways, many citizens should have no gripe with changing the time and day as it’s not of much interest to be honest. ANZAC Day is not appropriate for the matter and falls under the lists of unfortunate commemorations too.
Once that happened Nelson and the whole community knew that something needed to be done. The idea for a national holiday to be dedicated to the earth was genius to the people that care fo the earth but not to the government. In 1970 earth day was officially a national holiday and on April 22 it would be a big hit. “With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love,
(It is not the same thing as Halloween.) However, once the Spanish started migrating things changed a bit. The Catholics especially did not like the pagan nature of the holiday and therefore tried to rid of it completely by changing the date to November 1st and 2nd and changing the name to All Saints’ Day. However, the holiday continued and is celebrated to this day.

Mining companies and other industries weren’t happy. They found it would take more time and money to gain leases on land and their applications may be denied. Mabo day occurs annually on 3 June to commemorate Eddie Mabo. His son, Eddie Mabo Junior says on behalf of his family that, ‘We believe that a public holiday would be fitting to honour and recognise the contribution to the high court decision of not only my father and his co-plaintiffs but also to acknowledge all Indigenous Australians who have empowered and inspired each
A brief description of geology is the study of Earth's physical structure. The Apollo missions allowed scientists to understand the planet further. The missions gave access to the formation of materials on other planets giving them an idea of how our planet was formed. Professor Smith, a geologist from the University of Chicago proclaims,” In general,
Where have you ever seen or heard of a monument for this day? Is there a special plark where the first fleet landed? Is there a statue to commemorate this date? No, then what's the point of celebrating this date if we don’t even preserve it? People may say this is a day that is only about Australia and that is why it should continue to be this date, but I'm sorry to burst those people's bubbles.
Both Columbus Day and Dia de la Raza are celebrated on October 12. The two of these holidays, although celebrated in different parts of the world, celebrate and commemorate the discovery of America, or the Americas. Columbus Day (or in some places know as Native American Day) is celebrated in English speaking countries. Columbus Day is a federal holiday in the United States of America to celebrate the discovery of America, and to honor Christopher Columbus, who “discovered” the Americas. Some schools take Columbus Day off, but some don’t.
Floating about in all types of literature, there are many legends as to how the earth was created; these legends are known as creation myths. A creation myth offers answers to questions that ask how the earth was created, and explains the social customs of today as well as the workings of the natural world by telling an elaborate story. The Cherokee Indians have spread their beliefs on this topic throughout generations through oral tradition. Recent authors have taken these myths to paper to preserve history and to spread them even further around the world. “How the World Was Made” is a creation myth that not only offers an abundance of information regarding the origin of earth, but also supports the social traditions of today’s society and attempts to explain the intangible, natural workings of the world.
