Why is it important to have an awareness of the Eastern and Western culture in the tourism and hospitality industry?
The reason to take care of the knowledge about the Eastern and Western culture it can be related by many factors. For me the reason I will take care is language, food cultural and interior design. In the tourism and hospitality industry, we are providing our service to our customer. The service we provide can be invisible or visible. The most important a thing is we need to make sure we are giving the right option to let the customers choose but do not give them the option that only based on our own knowledge. So, that the awareness for the service provider need to know for the difference between eastern and western culture.

When eating Chinese food, the diners sit around the table and waiting for the food, the whole process is: chef will do the food done, then after that sending to the table by table, sitting around the dining table to take their own want, according to their preferences to select the corresponding of the meal. Any kind of meal on the table does not belong to any diners, everyone for the same purpose together at the same table, in the face of the same food to take the necessary, to solve the problem of hunger and survival. But when eating Western food, the diners sit around the table and the chef will do a good job of the corresponding meals, each meal will be the end of the corresponding diners, each diners can only eat their own meal. Different food culture, in the final analysis is the cultural difference. We need to based on the custom want to design the way of dinning.
The third reason is the interior design, way of making space. In the West, the establishment of the interior space, the wall played an important role. First of all, through the wall to establish space, above the top like a lid, just a cover it. On the contrary in the East, the roof is the most important factor in building space. Set the space through the roof supported by the pillar and then fill the
As this might be true back in Laos, it is no longer the case in America. In my family, we have compromised this with two tables simultaneously. One table is set for all the men to do traditional bowls and rituals while one table is set for the women to eat. These kinds of behavior are now more consistent across various Hmong communities. Families are now encouraged to eat together in social gatherings like big New Year ceremonies whereas this is not the case in the past.
These buildings were not up to the building codes used now. For instance, “As countries industrialized, they also urbanized. This was a result of people moving to cities in large numbers in order to gain factory jobs.” ( Document 6). Farms were slowly decreasing and more buildings and tenements went up.
The West was a blank slate: a new land with uncharted areas with unfamiliar scenery, animals, and inhabitants, as well as different weather patterns. The West was an entire new place to view. It could be settled about in so many different avenues. It was up to the individuals in the East and South to move west and make it a place of success. Additionally, a whole new way of thinking was born into the region.
Columns were large pillars that held up the things above it and gave support to the building. The western civilizations adapted this technique and incorporated columns in several of their architecture for example the lincoln memorial and the capital building. This was another contribution from Greek that has affected the Western

If Mexican culture were a quilt, then the many varied fabric patches that comprise its surface would be meals, the batting would be equal parts family and religion, and the thread used to sew the quilt together would be tradition. The people of Mexico consider mealtimes to be of utmost importance in their culture; however, much like an attractive quilt that lacks proper insulation—pretty, but useless—mealtimes lose much of their meaning without the substance that family and religion provide. Mealtimes in Mexico are a family affair, and immediate families in Mexico are typically multigenerational and tend to be quite large. Unlike most Americans, Mexican meals are almost exclusively had in the home—rather than in restaurants—where they are prepared,
The immigrants tired of slaving for big corporations in the east moved west and brought their cultures with them. The west had cultures from all over the globe because the ones that moved out west for the opportunities that the west presented also brought family members that hadn’t even been to this country yet. The east at times was just as scary as the west with gangsters, and mobsters, and rich powerful politicians. You could just as easily disappear in New York as you could in San Francisco.

Personal Statement I would like to confirm that it is my motivating of Chinese culture that ignited my passion for cultural and creative industry. As a Tourism Management major student, I was able to explore the Chinese diversified cultures and landscapes, which offered me an insightful understanding of the Chinese cultural development. The over-commercialization reveals the fact that the Chinese culture is facing a severe situation. The country calls for a better cultural development strategy, which cultural and creative industry can offer.
