Digestion takes up to 60% of our daily metabolism. Most of the energy and fluids used for digestion are supplied through the blood. Hence, digestion depends strongly on the blood and its circulation to digestive organs. Therefore work, emotion, stress and even conversations while eating pulls blood away from digestion. That 's why we should relax when we eat. Some foods, like very cold drinks and ice creams, causes restricted blood flow to the stomach. We should avoid all activities that divert blood from the digestive tract.
The first fifteen minutes after eating are very crucial. Rest is recommended. A massive increase in blood flow to the digestive tract brings fluid to acid-producing glands lining the stomach. This is when the

We tend to hold on to Stone Age belief that breakfast lunch and dinner is a must whether or not we are hungry. There are other times that we have two meals at once simply because we had missed the earlier meal. The number of meals we have a day truly depends on how active we are physically. There is no such thing as the most important meal of the day. Any meal when we are hungry is an important meal. Some people say that they skip meals in order to lose weight while some overeat to gain weight. Again, it needs to be stressed that no one can actually skip a meal and really suffer hunger pangs. When hunger strikes, each cell in our body is given a “danger” signal for preparation to switch to survival mode. We become dysfunctional until we eat something. It is a meaningless understatement to say that one can skip meals and go on with doing other things. In some instances, it is meant that the normal conventional meal is replaced with chapatti, noodles, soups, whole meal bread etc. because it is believed that oily food is …show more content…
Poor Health Education
The lack of knowledge on what a good diet is, leads people into following a diet that doesn 't meet the recommended daily requirement of vitamins, minerals and nutrients that our body needs. Many people are sickly and malnourished without even knowing it because of our lack of education as to what a good diet really is.
Lifestyle
Everyone’s perception of healthy lifestyle differs. Even people who typically follow a healthy, well balanced diet may fall into a bad diet due to change of environment, stress and physical changes. For instance, women should adjust their diet during menstruation since they have an increased need for iron and calcium. Normally healthy people who follow a good diet are also prone to a bad diet when they 're under heavy pressure, stress or when they undergo a drastic change in their work place or at home, such as excessive work load, moving places of employment or residence or loss of a loved
This is how the two body systems interrelate, and therefore if food isn’t eaten or the digestive system breaks down the cardiovascular system will also be affected. The two systems also interrelate during digestion of food and drink when the body produces enzymes to break down the food into smaller pieces and the nutrients from the food are absorbed in the intestines and into the bloodstream. The blood then flows, spreading the nutrients throughout the body. As the blood circulates, the toxins produced by the digestive system are transported through the cardiovascular system to the kidneys to get rid
Nowadays, people pay more attention to their health with the improvement of our life quality. Nutrition science is popularized on newspaper, online websites and many other social media. In the essay” The American Paradox,” Michael Pollan, a professor of journalism at University of California, Berkeley, argues that Americans have an unhealthy obsession with healthy eating because we care more about the health consequences of our food choice instead of eating with pleasure. Pollan claims that the food marketing machine, nutrition science, and journalism are main forces for Americans to change their diet. Pollan uses the conflicting reports of scientific studies of low-fat diet and dietary fiber as examples of bad influence of journalism and the
Moreover bad eating habits start in childhood regardless of weight. Some things that allow us to eat so irresponsibility is our busy lifestyles and poor choices. It seems that there is no escape from the fast food industry at times. It appears on billboards, the radio, and most importantly television. The few benefits of fast food include that it is quick and affordable, which if you are on a budget and busy, fits perfectly into your already chaotic schedule.
Food is essential. It is clearly a necessity for life, and because of this, how we view our food is just as important as what it is that we are eating. Some say that ignorance is bliss and sometimes that may be true, but with knowledge comes wisdom. Therefore, knowing the risks of the things we eat, and what we may be able to change to adjust to healthier eating habits is information everyone should have, including parents and or legal guardians for their sakes, as well as their children’s.

“Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food” (Hardy, 2006). The Greeks followed this idea by the philosopher Hippocrates, but today’s society does not take the message seriously. A majority of people eat harmful foods and do not receive the nutrition they need to stay healthy. There are a number of reasons why nutrition is lacking. A lot of teens and college students eat snacks that are not healthy such as chips, pop, candy, etc.
The Digestive System The digestive system is a system consisting of the mouth, oesophagus, stomach, gallbladder, small intestine, large intestine, the rectum and the anus. The functions of the digestive system are: • To break down food particles into molecules for digestion • To absorb into the bloodstream the small molecules produced by digestion • To eliminate un digested and unabsorbed foodstuffs and other waste products from the body The full digestive process begins at the mouth. The food enters the mouth and is chewed.
At least 70 million people in the U.S. suffer from some sort of digestive illness (not including heartburn), and digestive problems account for nearly 10% of all healthcare spending. The hard-working gut allows nutrients and water to enter the body while preventing the entry of toxins/antigens. It’s a selective barrier between “us” and the outside world. But a distressed gut can’t act in our defense.

Reason #4: Stress eaters take eating as a coping mechanism. - In a perfect world, your body would experience stress, handle your response to it and your body’s systems would return to normal. Unfortunately, this does not always happen. When a threat is perceived, whether real or not, you keep thinking about it. The power of your imagination causes your body to respond as though a threat is real, even if it is not.

The daily argument over this topic is if dieting helps or if it is actually more damaging to those who engage in them. Despite the fact that diets help those overweight lose weight; dieting harms the body and causes weight gain in the long run.
