Introduction Rudolph Giuliani once said, "The attacks of September 11th were intended to break our spirit. Instead we have emerged stronger and more unified. We feel renewed devotion to the principles of political, economic and religious freedom, the rule of law and respect for human life. We are more determined than ever to live our lives in freedom." (n.d.) This quote demonstrates the destruction the attacks on 9/11 may have broken people but the attack brought people together and made the U.S. better together. The effects were felt across the nation and altered the course of the American future. This demonstrates that the attacks were impactful to the economic status of the U.S. The attack was enough to stop a country’s economy and affected the world economy. Additionally, the buildings that were hit on 9/11 were the hub for international business and made a lasting impact once they were hit. Jackson (2008) also stated, “Such uncertainty was warranted given that the United States was already in the midst of a recession.” (para 5) Furthermore, this shows how the attack on 9/11 may have increased the rate of recession and further affected the overall economic outlook of the country going into the future. al-Qaeda was the group responsible for the destruction on 9/11 and has become the group to cause the most damage on American soil in history. Health problems caused many issues and became a major effect after 9/11. Additionally, the military response was enough to force many related to the attacks into hiding and was even so impactful that it killed some involved. The economic impact was also enough to shut down America’s economy.
