There are many similarities in Poe’s writing I've noticed. Number one is there are very dark and twisted themes and ideas in each story. Including many hidden meanings and symbols that are hidden between the lines. The murders of rue morgue, the black cat, and the cask of amontillado all have a troubled past and both try to do something they all regret or are unaware of what they are doing. However at the end the themes are all revolving around death. All I ever need to know about mystery, I learned from Poe because every story is like an unsolved puzzle the readers can solve and figure out the deeper you go in the story. There are certain things in the story that need to help the story become interesting. But there are so many things Poe

This is incorrect due to the fact the characters and theme are very similar in both stories. They are connected through insanity. Edgar Allen Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne were two very talented authors in the period of romanticism. Poe and Hawthorne share many similar qualities but they are each different in their own ways. Both of their writings are considered to be a part of dark romanticism, and they both often write about dark depressing topics. They both write about death and sin but they do it in their own ways, for example; Hawthorne mainly writes about sin and the evil acts of man, while Poe mainly talks about death, mourning and murder. Hawthorne also uses a lot of figurative language and allegories, while Poe usually is straight to the point his stories are usually short and the meaning behind the story is pretty obvious or uncomplicated.
With their similarities in writing styles, we see the struggle that the human mind goes through when dealing with dark obsession, an important aspect of the human condition. There are also some differences, for instance, there is death in both but they are a bit different, and one of the narrators has more control of their situation than the other. Not everything is as it appears, for example in Poe’s “Tell-Tale Heart.”
