In virtually all things, from academics to Zen, from business to biology, from weather to work, the common denominator is change. But when it comes to education, the call is not for a change but for a reform. ( Ebert II , 2012) The difference between change and reform is that change can be fortuitous, serendipitous, purely accidental by force of nature, and sometimes by force or will. It can seem good or bad, and it can be a consequence of our actions or a goal towards which our actions are directed. Reform, however, is always initiated out of dissatisfaction. It is something done because people don’t like what is happening. (Ebert II, 2012) One view of dissatisfaction that initiated reform is the situation of our education today. It envisions the development of scientifically, technologically, and environmentally literate and productive members of society who are critical problem solvers, responsible stewards of nature, innovative and creative citizens, informed decision makers, and effective communicators. The K- 12 vision aims to have relevance in the socio- economic realm, as well. This means that the students would understand their role as productive members of the country.
