Throughout my career as an educator, I intend to motivate my student to make their learning experience an enjoyable one. I propose to intrinsically motivate my students over challenging yet supportive tasks and instructions. I aim to utilize supportive and preventive strategies when it comes to dealing with students’ behavior. I expected to achieve this goal by creating a learning environment that is harmless, comfortable, and conducive to learning. If the students do not feel safe in the classroom that will trigger their defense system. As a result, students learning and engagement will decrease and disruptive behaviors will increase. The classroom environment will be structured to reduce distraction, but provide more opportunity to learn. The classroom will be arranged in a way that embrace diversity and students are expected to follow classroom rules such as, respect one another, and be prepared to learn. If a student repeats a behavior after she or he has …show more content…
The learning process is a partnership in which both participation of the teacher and the students are required. As the instructor, I will deliver the tools that needed for my student to succeed, similarly, they are anticipated to play their parts. Once the students enter my classroom, they will enquire to activate their learning cap. That exemplify, they are obligated come to class and on time, be accountable for their learning, come with the appropriate and the necessary materials to class. They are responsible for completing any given assignment such as group work, quizzes, test, home learning, book report etc. It is crucial that students participate and engage in the classroom. It is highly recommended that the students understand their role accordingly that they are aware of what is expected of
A teacher can help each individual student to be educationally successful if they take the time and energy required to do so. I believe a trusting relationship between the students and teacher is necessary in order to create a safe learning environment. Once a bond is created, it allows the students to express themselves in an honest, raw way that truly allows for independent thought, it allows the students to express themselves without fear, I feel this type of environment helps students thrive. Students should be motivated from
Some strategies I employed to monitor student behavior is group alerting, and calling out students. During this lesson, students were increasingly antsy because it was their ‘indoor recess time’, and were not ready to sit through another lesson, so students were more out of hand then usual. As a teacher who was taking the students’ indoor recess to teach, I let more misbehavior happen because I understood that students needed a break from learning. 9. Explain some challenges with respect to procedures and routines that will have to be altered or changed.
It is a must that I create safe, supportive and respectful learning environments that promote socio-emotional development, self-responsibility, and character to optimise learning for all students (Allodi, 2010). I believe that it will be beneficial for myself, students and learning support assistants that I foster a sense of community in the classroom and develop positive relationships with and among students. Therefore, I believe that I have to do my utmost to adapt effective skills and strategies for managing dynamic and flexible classroom structures and for teaching conflict resolution as well as for building positive relationships and engaging in effective communication and problem-solving with parents and families. I am also in favour of gearing teaching and learning towards student-centred learning since such instructional strategy leads to efficacy in increasing student engagement in learning activities (Twigg, 2010).
For this content application I chose to develop a procedure that I hope will help with my classroom management. Danielson’s component 2C, Managing Classroom Procedures, is under which this management idea would fall. The overarching theme of managing the classroom is diverse but pulling from my observations in my cooperating teacher’s classroom I have come to realize that finding ways in which to engage students without chatter increasing is rather difficult. It is my hope that through building a team orientated competition around participation, timeliness, and respect for others, that the students will become more engaged and hopefully lessen the amount of distractions created during class.
One instructional practice will enhance the classroom is giving the students participation with the classroom. John Dougherty talks about how letting the students participate in establishing the classroom rules in his article Classroom Management and the Middle School Philosophy. He further elaborates to say that it contributes to increased compliance, lower numbers of violations, and greater academic success. This could be as simple as asking the students how they believe they learn best like Brodhagen discussed in This We Believe… and now we must act. It is discussed that since these adolescent learners have participated in a numerous amount of education already that they will be able to give a teacher an understanding of how they successfully
Evidence-based Classroom Behaviour Management Strategies Article Review The article that I read for my article review is titled “Evidence-based Classroom Behaviour Management Strategies” by Dr. Barry S. Parsonson. This article presents the classroom management strategies developed by educational professionals after extensive research, based on the data they collected and analyzed regarding classroom behavior. Since it has been found that “behavior problems in a classroom increase the stress levels for both the teacher and pupils” (Parsonson, 2012, p. 16) this article deems classroom management not only beneficial to both educator and student but also essential.
Students have different academic needs and it is the responsibility of the teacher to meet every single one of them. My instructional goal is to create my lesson plans and assessments in a way that all students can be engage in the class. I have to keep in mind that every student is different and that I need to use different strategies so that they can be engage in the class. They are some students that learn through auditory channels and some others throughout visual aids. As a teacher, I would need to use different strategies to help my students in their process of learning.
I believe that an education is a student’s most valuable asset in achieving a successful future. An education is a lifelong gift and should never be compromised. As a committed teacher, it is my job to provide the best education for my students. I will share my passion for learning and growth, inspiring my students to want to learn and grow themselves. I will lead by example, instilling the knowledge, compassion, desire and willingness to learn.
Because learning is not limited to the classroom, it is pertinent to a student’s success that teachers form a positive relationship with parents. The dedication of establishing and maintaining a safe classroom atmosphere is paramount to the success of all students. When an educator genuine interest in well-being of of the students, she sets the tone of the classroom with her voice, smile, and attitude. After equipping students with a firm foundation of skills, the teacher becomes a guide that leads students towards their goals while gradually removing supports.
I believe it is my job as an educator to not only teach the core curriculum but to teach students to become productive members of our society. The teaching style seen in my classroom will closely resemble the way I am raising my own children. Every moment is a teaching opportunity and every child has the potential to accomplish great things. My goal is for my students to know that they are capable - capable of doing many amazing things I want my students to learn how to think for themselves.
As a future educator I believe it is important to be working towards building your students’ principles and character along the lines of Kohlberg’s Stages of Moral Development. As a teacher, it is my goal is to have my students grasp and advance through all five stages of development. Children need to learn be accountable for their actions and choices at a very young age and I believe it is my job as an educator to help guide them to understand why their actions have punishments and how should they avoid this. I believe good behaviors and actions should be rewarded, but it is important to avoid an attachment for rewards. To move them to moral understanding and obedience, it is important to have the students learn from each other while also building a teacher-student relationship.
As an educator, my philosophy of learning is constantly evolving to meet the needs of my students and reflecting on my own development as a teacher. It is my goal as a teacher to help all my students learn and grow in ways that are developmentally appropriate and efficient in shaping my students to be not only great learners, but wonderful people as well. I believe that while there is a general pattern for how students learn at each age range, there are also special considerations for the individuality of each student as they are growing into adults. Therefore, I believe that students should be considered not only as a whole class, but also as their individual selves. I am firm believer in Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Theory.
In my classroom students will feel safe and included. I will create an environment where all students feel that they are able to take risks and step outside of their comfort zone without the fear of failure. To help create this environment I will provide
I believe schools should a place where students feel that they have an active role in their learning process, it is important to me that my classroom is student-centered, where students feel free to learn and grow as individuals. I feel it is important for students to have a lead role in their education. Student-centered learning is described as “shifting the focus of activity from the teacher to the learners” (Felder). When the classroom is student centered the students will become active learners rather than passive learners. With active learning, the students are involved in every step of the learning process (Felder).
Through this activity, the teachers assure that the learners are able to participate fully in the curriculum. As the supports given by the teacher the learners allow them to transfer their skills and knowledge to
