I believe that an education is a student’s most valuable asset in achieving a successful future. An education is a lifelong gift and should never be compromised. As a committed teacher, it is my job to provide the best education for my students. I will share my passion for learning and growth, inspiring my students to want to learn and grow themselves. I will lead by example, instilling the knowledge, compassion, desire and willingness to learn. I will give them the knowledge and guidance to ensure their success in their education and future. This desire manifests itself in many ways, yet at its core is building relationships with students and teachers and then extending these relationships to families and the community. With students, I seek to be visible, greeting the students at the door and working to learn their names. When discipline is necessary, I believe that restorative correction is the best avenue to change behaviors while maintaining relationships. As teachers spend the most time with students during a typical school day, they are essential team members in improving educational outcomes and promoting an inclusive culture. As a future teacher, I will always have good intentions for my students. I will recognize their abilities and encourage growth while having a positive approach. I will teach in a variety of ways that is beneficial to my students. If they are having difficulties learning the material, I will change my teaching strategies until progress is achieved. I will include every student; the quiet will be heard, the misunderstood will be redirected and the gifted will be rewarded.

2. Diversity Within any classroom there are students and each student has a variety of needs that can affect the learning of the student and the teacher’s ability to instruct the student. These needs can influence a student’s learning experience academically, emotionally, socially and many other aspects to varying degrees; depending on how much a student’s learning experience is affected, the student’s academic progress can be hindered due to their needs not being addressed. Any parent and teacher would want every student to have equal opportunities to grow and develop academically and to become productive members of society.
Reflecting on my educational and practical experiences, I appreciate the infinite influence that teachers have on children. I realise that children will take the skills and knowledge learnt in the classroom and use it throughout their lives. I know a teacher has to deal with many daily pressures and challenges, in the classroom. However, I feel I require the skills needed to deal with these challenges. As a teacher I hope not only to be an educator but a positive role model, whom the children can look up to and trust.

All students are unique in their own way. In any given classroom a teacher is designated to, he/she must be able to cater for diversity. Students are diverse is many ways, for example, their motivation level, personalities, disabilities, interests ,language, learning styles, abilities, cultural background, socioeconomic background, past learning experience and their social economic states; therefore each student will learn differently because of their individuality. Not only do I have the responsibility to teach students and help them grow, but I need to be someone who is capable and flexible to each individual students’ learning needs. I believe that every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the world we live in. As a future high school teacher, I will make it my goal to help students develop their potentials by believing in them as capable individuals; but more importantly, it will be key in getting the students to believe in themselves, in that they can succeed in any task they come across by working hard and putting effort into those tasks. Some students may not have a strong support system at home and they will probably need more support from the teachers in their classrooms in order for them to see the full potential they are capable of possessing. I will assist my students in discovering who they are, so they can express their own opinions and nurture their own ideas. It will be my job as a teacher to make my students feel empowered, to where they can feel that they have the opportunity to do well in school, and life overall.
I believe that education is one tool in every avenue of life that each student should cherish. Teachers provide that foundation for lifelong learners because we shape and mold these young men and women every day. My belief as a teacher is that every child is capable of learning no matter what academic setting they are in, and each student learns in their own unique way. Throughout my training, I implemented various strategies for engaging students in small groups and rigorous lessons. My role as a teacher is to communicate effectively, be respectful, and have self-worth and confidence. I did fear making wrong choices throughout this field experience.
