The INF Treaty eventually led to the destruction of 859 American and 1,836 Soviet nuclear missiles. (Hoekstra Database) The amount of courage and optimism Regan put towards ending Communism was remarkable. He was the first president to ever really attempt to make progress with Gorbachev because many other presidents and world leaders had a great fear of Gorbachev. Regan did not fear Gorbachev, actually from his first day in office, he tried to mend the relationship between the two nations. Many people thought Regan or any other U.S. president did not have the ability to end the cold war.
All the President’s Men is a historical investigative story of the Watergate scandal that eventually forced President Richard Nixon to resign in the first year of his second term as a president. He is the only president that had to resign. The story is based on two Washington Post reporters, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, who investigated the Watergate story. The book started with Woodward receiving a call from the city editor of the Washington Post about a burglary at the Democratic headquarters. Bernstein was also assigned to report on the burglary at the Watergate hotel.
Howard Hunt and G.Gordon Liddy broke in the Democratic National Committee, DNC located in the Watergate Building in Washington D.C. The break was conducted by five men who were ordered to plant listening devices in the CRP to gain an edge over the democratic party for the 1972 election. The initial break in went without incident. After a month of listening to the office gossip of the DNC employees, the plumbers found that the head of the DNC office phone was faulty. This leads the plumbers to need to break back into the DNC offices and replace the faulty bug.
A letter from the U.S Army stating, “You, Tony Stiletto, have been drafted into the U.S Army to fight in World War II. You have two weeks from March 21st, 1944, to enlist into the U.S Army at your nearest enlistment office.” This was bad for Tony and the only way for him to avoid this was if he were to go to college, but that wasn’t going to happen because his family was poor. Two weeks later, Tony was faced with going to the enlistment
The National Security Agency has been keeping many people out of the dark for years about their policies. How can congress conduct their constitution oversight of the Executive branch if the agencies lie about what is going on? How can American voters make smart decisions if they are misinformed about its activities? As I discussed this issue with co- workers, some didn’t comprehend the importance of Snowden’s information. They all stated that we as American’s should not worry about the government looking into our business if we have nothing to hide.
Brian Hernandez Prof. Cicirelli CM-115-02 11/30/15 JFK Assassination Many conspiracies have taken place within government, but none of them have been more serious then JFK assassination. When JFK had fired its director and other agents, the CIA was scared that Kennedy would take down the CIA permently, he believed to be an extremely terrible agency under the government. The shooter, Lee Harvey Oswald, who was in the marines at one point was planted into the biggest CIA camp somewhere in the Asian pacific and had been wanting to attend the CIA. Apparently he was the guy for the job. Many critics say that Lee Harvey Oswald might have been brain washed by the CIA.
All the President’s Men is perhaps the most revolutionary detective story to ever be written. Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein are the legendary reporters who followed the Watergate scandal from the beginning, and were able to piece together one of the biggest political scandals to ever occur. Both Bernstein and Woodward’s lives were changed forever when they were asked to cover the Watergate building break in for the Washington Post. Both men weren’t close friends, but worked together on reporting the story. Soon by following various leads and calling contacts in the white house, they were able to find out that one of the burglars was hired for defensive work for Nixon’s re-election campaign.

There’s a question americans usually ask themselves, is the government trustable? Many citizens would answer no, many americans believe that the government is constantly watching them. The privacy of americans citizens is being violated by the gps trackers in our phones that the government can see and monitor, how the governments listens to our calls and how they store all our information. This is similar to the privacy violations explored in 1984 by showing how in 1984 Big Brother is constantly watching it’s citizens. In the book 1984 by George Orwell, Winston explains that Big Brother is constantly watching them.
The Patriotic Act has taken away our liberties, it gives federal government unprecedented power to monitor phone calls and emails of U.S. citizens without a warrant. It allows for bulk collection of Americans metadata. While others, believe it is a waste of public funds, and vital resources.
While secretary of state, current presidential runner, Hillary Clinton used her private email to send and receive classified information. She later wiped her computer, denied doing so, had her people plead the 5th in court, and continued lying to the American public regarding this issue. Recently the FBI launched an investigation into the scandal, and since then, they have found dozens of Clintons emails deemed to be classified. There are very few events comparable to Hillary Clinton’s email scandal. One of the most commensurate events to Hillary’s ignominy is President Nixon’s Watergate Scandal.
