Speaking is a very complex action. Effective communication requires the coordination of the thought, the muscle plus the continuing analysis of the background and the nonverbal actions of the listener. And all of this happens in a short amount of time. Sometimes that short amount of time causes pressure to build up. That build-up of pressure is the cause of ineffective communication. These build-up of communication pressure can happen in any place at any time as long as there is communication involved. As a student, I personally can cite that most of these occurrences happen often in school. A more common and specific example is communication pressure in a class recitation. In my perspective, I see recitation as a means not to know but to hone confidence because speaking in front of many people while sharing owned knowledge may require little knowledge and it is mostly reliant on the confidence of the speaker. It varies in every circumstances such as in a debate. In a debate my strengths are: I know how to “read” the person and assume his/her answer, allowing me to find a solution to destroy the logic he/she will present before he/she presents it, also I determine the loopholes to be used against me and I find a loophole against them. My strengths allow me to find the logic of the opposing team against me and I use their own reasoning to contradict their idea. Thus, one can say that my strength is relative to the capacity of the person I am having a debate to. On the other side, my weaknesses are: lack of focus. This is the deadliest of weaknesses in a debate because it deteriorates defensive listening. This allows enemy logic to remain unquestioned thus leading to a losing debate.
