It is a common knowledge that a good leader should be patient, organized, focused, and innovative . These skills are obviously important, however, does it mean that anyone who posses above qualities is an effective leader? What really defines an effective leadership? Well, it is impossible to clearly describe a good leader by observing just one individual. There are many different leadership styles, so for that reason the movie Remember the Titans is a great example to look at when we try to describe an effective leadership technique. Each of the main character presents distinctive approach of control , which will be evaluated in this paper.
One of the most significant person in this movie is Coach Boone. In the time when black and white community could not collaborate together, Boone got the position of Head Coach at the first school for both races. It was really challenging as no one believed he could ever succeed, yet his personality, skills, as well as experience allowed Boone to prove them wrong. From the beginning of the movie we can openly say that Bonne was a confident individual, whose leadership style was comparable to dictatorship. Boone said, " This is no democracy. It is a dictatorship. I am the law"(jdfjidiofeio). Dictatorial leadership style demonstrate skills

Coach Yoast had an outstanding qualification for his position, however, he was asked to step down from his duties and replaced with Boone. He was obviously not overjoyed by this decision, nevertheless he knew how to adapt to this situation. As a leader Yoast was confident, enthusiastic, flexible and open-minded. Some may say this is the least productive form of leadership. They don’t offer any type of guidance and the group members will be the ones making all the decisions. There is often a lack of motivation in the group and no clear defined role. The last form of leadership is the Participative or Democratic leadership. These types of leaders are usually the most effective because not only do they offer guidance, they also allow and encourage participation from the members.
On becoming head coach he adopts an authoritative approach and seizes control in order to set a tone for the team and staff to follow. He makes it clear that his leadership is a dictatorship and he is the
The purpose of writing a philosophy is to provide others with an overview of what kind of leader I strive to be. In developing a leadership philosophy, the first thing that comes to mind is the Creed of the Non Commissioned Officer, the oath that I took when first becoming a leader. This creed plays a major role guiding future leaders in becoming outstanding military leaders. In 1984, I enlisted into the United States Army and served six years of active duty at Ft Polk, Louisiana as a radio operator in the 105th Military Intelligence Battalion.
B) Provide support using examples from the movie. Example of Conformity from the movie: The social-psychological principle of conformity is a huge focus in the movie. In the beginning of the movie, the white and black players would not even speak to one another. What Makes an Effective Leader? There are leaders all around you and you probably did not even know it. A leader is a person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country. This could be parents, teachers, or the president of a country.
There are three basic leadership styles, they consist of: authoritarian, democratic, and laissez-faire. Leaders who utilize the authoritarian style of leadership give orders, are involved in most if not all decisions, and expect absolute adherence to their directives. Conversely, leaders who favor the laissez-faire style of leadership allow subordinates almost absolute freedom, giving little to no direction. Somewhere in the middle of these two styles, is the democratic style. Democratic leaders gather a consensus from their subordinates or constituents considering their opinions on an issue, before making a final decision on the issue.
The styles, by name and brief description alone, will resonate with anyone who leads, is led, or, as is the case with most of us, does both. Coercive leaders demand immediate compliance. Authoritative leaders mobilize people toward a vision. Affiliative leaders create emotional bonds and harmony. Democratic leaders build consensus through participation.
Leadership Thought Prior to 1900 The earliest study of leadership thought would be the “Great Man Theory. This theory conceptualized leaders as a single “Great Man” who knew everything and influenced others to follow him. In leadership discourse, the Great Man theory—an assertion that certain individuals, certain men, are gifts from God placed on earth to provide the lightening needed to uplift human existence—is associated mainly with Thomas Carlyle (Spector, 2015, p.250). The focal-point of this theory is that leaders’ skills are inherent and set that them apart from those around them and that these traits enable them to assume roles of power and authority.
In spite of the fact that’ leadership analysis’ is the art of breaking down a leader into basic psychological components for study and use by academics and practitioners, a sound leadership analyses

A leader needs to be able to clearly communicate, build relationships, motivate others, inspire others, and be a role model to create a positive work environment and culture that will accept change and innovation in the company.
