2.1.3 The effective teacher’s characteristic Being a trainee teacher is not easy because their behavior being force same like the real teacher in the class. In order to be able to teach the students well, teacher must have several characteristics of being an effective teacher. Thus, there are several description of being an effective teacher will be discussed below. Means that the students who are study in education field has already obtained some knowledge about how to be a real teacher, how to handle the teacher, how to make a lesson plan, how to create interesting activities. Thus, from the knowledge they have gotten in the university, they administer those knowledge into practice which is became a trainee teacher who job is teaching the students in the real classroom. In addtition, Kyriacou & Stephen, 1999 (as cited in Jusoh, Zailani) defined teaching practicum as the most stressful part for trainee teachers to show their first formal struggle on teaching. This statement means that, teaching practicum is a hard part to do since they have no teaching experience at all but they have to take teaching practicum as their first experience in teaching students in the real classroom. Atmajaya Catholic University, Faculty of Education and Language has a program for their English Departement students. English Department students must take the Teaching Practicum Program to fulfil of the requirement for their Bachelor’s Degree. Therefore, Atmajaya majoring English Department sends their students to become a trainee teacher in the primary school or secondary school. His study investigated about what are the trainee teachers’ concerns and challenges during the teaching practicum stage. There were two female trainee teacher who have just completed the teaching practicum from school became his participants. He conducted his research by using interview to obtain their perspectives based on their experience. 1. Describe the skills or attributes you believe are necessary to be an outstanding teacher. Being an outstanding teacher goes beyond acquiring the competence and knowledge to deliver rigorous academic instruction to a diverse group of students. Outstanding teachers possess a multitude of qualities making them unique and unforgettable to the children they serve. I believe that outstanding teachers are passionate, inspired, creative, compassionate, patient and understanding.
The teacher has a positive attitude towards her students and teaching. She smiled, she took time to say hello, and asked how their weekends were. During their conversations, she would maintain eye contact with the students. During instructional time, she was prepared for the upcoming lesson and follow-up. She showed a passion for teaching through the energy, drive, and cohesiveness of the classroom.
NEED AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY High School, the Secondary level of education is facing very harsh problems. The personality, attitude, emotional stability, morale, commitment towards work of a teacher determines the quality of education. The Secondary Education Commission (1952) rightly points out "We are convinced that the most important factor in the contemplated educational reconstruction is the teacher, his personal qualities, his educational qualifications, his professional training and the place that he occupies in the school as well as in the community. Reports of Kothari Commission (1964) says that “Of all the different factors which influence the quality of education and its contribution to national development, the quality, competence, and character of teachers are undoubtedly the most significant”. This statement reiterates the importance of teachers and their attitudes.
My expectations coming into the course were high and remained high throughout the duration of the course. The essays I wrote in the class really challenged me to progress in my writing skills. The illustration essay really served as an example of what not to do when writing at a college level. My approach of the essay was really misunderstood and grammatically incorrect.

What kinds of models or other vicarious experiences should your teachers have, and where will they get them? What kind of activities will be useful to persuade teachers that they can improve the proficiency of their students? What kind of affective state is needed in your school to develop the collective efficacy that you need?
Due to indiscipline situation students arrive late for class, are not punctual for the classes or simply bunk classes as the class is not very interesting or rather as a teacher we are unable to create interest in the class .This may be a result of lack of lesson planning .At times effective management of time is also overlooked. Non verbal cues like body language and communication skills also play a major role in making the class effective. Problems of Classroom Management can be overcome by being prepared for class, motivating the students, providing a comfortable learning environment, building students’ self esteem, being creative and imaginative in daily lessons. A teacher should not carry personal problems to the class by being impulsive.
An outstanding teacher is made up of 5 main things. They are respectful and in turn respected, goal-driven, have strong classroom management, have an inner drive to learn more and teach better, and have a love for each and every student. Each and every day a teacher must show the students they teach respect. If a student respects you, they will work just that bit hard for you. It makes a difference.

Being a teacher is a journey that has much to do with learning about yourself and being aware that what happens in your classroom reflects only on how are you with yourself. Teachers are not conscious that they project into students, and that affects how things go in the classroom. I believe the first characteristic of a good teacher is that he/ she is always willing to analyze his/her teaching performance. Second the teacher is humble enough to receive input about the development and application of techniques, learning from it and improving.
School and teachers can influence the extent and quality of learning for all students. Teacher’s beliefs, practices and attitudes are important for understanding and improving educational processes. They are closely linked to teachers’ strategies for coping with challenges in their daily professional life. Educators have control over numerous factors that influence motivation, achievement and behaviour of students. They are turning around their approach into a focus on creating positive school climate and responsive classroom as part of holistic quality education based on child rights where there is effective teaching and classroom management, thus enhancing students’ learning experiences.
