“Childhood should be carefree, playing in the sun; not living a nightmare in the darkness of the soul.”- Dave Pelzer. Many children are forced to live a life that no one should ever even know exist, these children live in despair and fear, afraid that they may never feel happiness again, afraid that they will be stuck where they are until they lose every piece of themselves and many do, that is when they begin living a nightmare in the darkness of the soul because there is no light at the end of the tunnel not even a flicker of hope. This is often as a result of child exploitation which is described by the legal dictionary as ‘the act of using a minor child for profit, labour, sexual gratification, or some other personal or financial advantage. …show more content…

Child abuse causes the following psychological impairments: low self-esteem, depression, and relationship difficulties, Experiencing childhood trauma and adversity, such as physical or sexual abuse, is a risk factor for borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety, and other psychiatric disorders. (Childwelfare Gateway, 2013) in an article posted in the Observer on April 22, 2012, it says’ While the physical pain will eventually go away, the shame and trauma of being sexually abused often cling to the abused throughout childhood and even adulthood.’ And that is true, the psychological scars are the hardest to fade. Children are the future and it is the duty of every adult to make the safety of children their priority, whether it is their children or not. The nation should unite to fight against this disease called child exploitation because if the future of the children are snatched away then there will be no future for anyone because the children are the future. It is time to stand up against child pornography, child sexual abuse, child marriages, child trafficking and all these social ills that come to kill, steal and destroy the future of our precious
Research has consistently found that child abuse and neglect (maltreatment) increases the risk of lower academic achievement and problematic school performance. These children have suffered significant emotional stress during critical periods of early brain development and personality formation, the support they require is reparative as well as
These exploited children don’t get to develop the same as children who live in “normal” child’s lifestyle. The trafficked children don’t get to enjoy the same pleasures as other children, they don’t play, they don’t learn and their lives are filled with lists of things that they don’t get to do. Most children their age would be going to school, playing with friends and involved with extracurricular activities. These exploited children go from being school age children to having adult like tendencies. Some miss out on the developmental stage of being an adolescent, which I believe would lead to psychological and emotional problems in the present and future.
While victims of child abuse are able to grow into successful adults, their traumatic experiences follow them forever. As John Balguy states, “Whatever parent gives his children good instruction and sets them at the same time a bad example, may be considered as bringing them food in one hand and poison in the
Although, sexual abuse and pornography of children is nothing new within this society each time it is discovered and reported there is an accompanying knee jerk reaction of anger, disgust and distrust that follows so much so that it becomes hard to see the many facets of the whole truth about the situation such was the case with Christopher E. Pelloski M.D. His book, Trauma, Shame and the Power of Love which is a biographical work in which he bares his soul and shares his experiences from arrest to trial as a non productive participant of child pornography. From the outset reading, Mr. Pelloski's stark memoir, created an intense paradox of emotions within me especially because I am a parent of six children. On the one hand he was a Pediatric Oncologist whose job and intention was to help children at their most vulnerable moment and he made great strides in doing so. But on the other hand, he also participated in the very vulgar and harmful activity of online

It is the world’s fastest growing global crime that people are being bought, sold and smuggled for sexual exploitation, domestic servitude, bonded labour and even organ sacrifice ending up with death. The most tragic fact is 26% of the victims that are sucked into trafficking are children. In this violation of human rights’ grave, where persons have a price tag, anyone can be a victim. Human trafficking doesn’t discriminate on age, gender, race or religion. It is happening to humans, just like
Maltreatment has a severe impact on a child’s current and future functioning and development regarding their emotional, social, cognitive, behavioral, and physical wellbeing.(Frederico 345). Different types of abuse, such as physical, emotional, and sexual have different consequences, but the consequences of all maltreatment, are likely to happen in three stages. Firstly, a child may have an initial reaction such as post-traumatic symptoms, painful emotions, and cognitive distortions. Secondly, children develop coping strategies that are aimed to help increase their safety or reduce their pain. Thirdly, a child 's sense of self-worth is damaged and develop the feeling of shame and hopelessness..
Children throughout the world are deprived or refused access to the simple basic requirements, such as food, clean water, medical care, and shelter. They are often sexually exploited and economically exploited for another person’s achievement. There are various international organizations and groups that have been established in order to fight all of these methods of child maltreatment, prevent abuse, and to campaigned children's rights around the world. The United Nations maintains a 'stop child abuse now' mentality, which drives this international organization to confront child maltreatment and advocate for children's rights.
Children are the future of this world, they are bundles of joy and, although they can cause a lot of chaos, they are still babies. In order for us to keep them protected from terrible people, we must keep them away from unwelcome situations and individuals, but sometimes that does not work out as expected. Kids supposedly do difficult jobs and make money to get out of the system, while teenagers do sex work to make money. Thousands of kids and teenagers are kidnapped, stolen from their parents, and sold into the human trafficking system every year. The truth is that this is probably uncomfortable for you guys to hear.
Imagine waking up in a dark, dingy room with no windows or doors. You have no idea where you are, or how you got there. Suddenly, the door opens and a stranger comes in, telling you that you've been sold into sex slavery. This is the reality for millions of children around the world who are victims of child sex trafficking. Child sex trafficking is a heinous crime that has plagued society for centuries.
Even though it might seem less brutal than physical abuse, it leaves the same and somewhat deeper impact because of its focus on the child 's mental and social development. This causes lasting psychological wounds throughout
In today's world we are depending on a suffering, neglected, mistreated child and aren't doing anything about it because we know it will affect our society. This connects to the human rights violation of child labor. Children are forced to work at a very young age to support their family. Ursula Le Guin wrote in her story “ That they all understand that their happiness, the beauty of their city, the tenderness of their friendships, the health of their children… …… depend wholly on this childs abominable misery”.
Unfortunately, the abolition of slavery in 1865 did not transfer to underground economies, such as the sex trafficking of children. Unbeknownst to many Americans, hundreds of thousands of children are being manipulated and forced to perform sexual acts for the enjoyment of adults. This perverted, pedophilic crime trade operates with little legal intervention. However, it can be stopped if people lobby, train, and volunteer. Children deserve to maintain their innocence and enjoy the process of maturation.
The commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) is a worldwide issue that most governments pay little attention to, including the Papua New Guinea (PNG) government. CSEC occurs when individuals buy, trade, or sell sexual acts with a child. There are three primary and interrelated forms of CSEC and they are ‘prostitution, pornography and trafficking for sexual purposes’. This commercial sex industry victimizes girls, boys and transgendered youth whose ages are below eighteen.
Children who experienced child sex trafficking will develop some issues during their childhood and possibly adulthood. Also, human sex trafficking in children is a multidimensional problem having legal, media, and social implications. There are certain drawback issues in these following areas, such as ways to identify a child sex trafficking victim, the government effort in stopping child sex trafficking, and the punishments for child sex traffickers. Consequently, issue of human trafficking has greatly increased in the media during these recent years. Cases of international sex trafficking have increased public awareness about human sex trafficking in children in America (Kotrla, K. 2010).
