He chose to stay because Elie would have been separated from his parents and little sister. This choice had a negative impact, but also a positive one. The negative side is that Elie’s family stayed in the ghettos, and then the concentration camps. At the time, no one could believe the rumors about the Nazis. For this reason the Elie wouldn’t have known about the extreme horror that was lying ahead for his entire family.

All in all I believe that we can learn a couple things from the worlds decisions in the way they handled the terrible mishaps in Germany. We can learn to take initiative and do what’s right, we can learn not to be bystanders and do something and not hope someone else will, and we can learn to think strategically and with passion knowing we can make a difference. These are some things that i can learn from the worlds responses to the Holocaust. Now, what are we going to do with these lessons, are we going to brush it aside and not actually apply this to the life we live every day, or are we going to take initiative and utilize these in such a way, that we ourselves become better people. My hope is that our society takes what happened during the holocaust and uses it to see some good by these lessons, you can apply to your every day and make sure history does not repeat
Miep Gies worked as a secretary for Otto Frank’s company, Opekta, in Amsterdam for around ten years. In June of 1942, the Franks had to move from Germany to Amsterdam because the family took notice of Hitler coming into power. Knowing Miep Gies was Otto’s secretary, he requested that Miep helps him and his family whilst they hid in Amsterdam. While Miep was assisting the Franks and the Vaan Pels, she was assisting many other families, much like that of a secret agent. In 1944 the people in hiding are arrested, not including Miep, and sent to
Despite her sisters warnings “Stella embraced him with both arms, feircly, in full view of Blanche” (Williams 84). Stella continues to run back to Stanley completey ignoring her sisters warnings. However, Anna now has a greater reason to live, by replacing the Flying Avalons with the family she would risk her life to save. By finally realizing the dangers and limitations of the human body, she tries to avoid any further permanent damage to her body, such as her scarred hands. If she were to lose her balance and fall due to carelessness, she may recall her traumatising life-changing experience again. Additionally, Anna’s realization of limitations is displayed through her inability to see and move without restriction. Ultimately, although experiencing a tragedy can result in much suffering, it can also lead to the growth of one spiritually and
He's ruinin' the family, that's what he's doin'." (Lee pg ) Family: the world's oldest excuse for telling people what to do. There's no real reason why Atticus's behavior should reflect on anyone but himself and perhaps the parents who raised him, but Aunt Alexandra seems to think it's her business, too. To be fair, given Maycomb's obsession with family, she has a

As with Chopin’s stories, a person’s actions are the determining factors that change their life and the lives of others forever. In “The Story of an Hour”, Mrs. Mallard should have never had the attitude of freedom which ultimately killed her, and Richards should have done more research before breaking that news to her. In “Regret”, Mamzelle Aurelie should have explored more of what life had to offer, instead of locking herself away from the possibilities. Finally, Armand, of “Desiree’s Baby”, should not have treated his wife or his baby the way he did regardless of the race he thought she was. All this to say, I believe it is important to think things through and handle them in an appropriate manner, especially if it changes something that you simply cannot get back in the years to
