In today's society we will encounter and face a myriad of problems. Many problems that we face in America are issues like crime, poverty, global warming, health care, and terrorism are just some of the many problems that are being talk about in the press. Many issues that we experience and face in society are just effects of issues we over look like stereotyping others for example. Many overlook how bad stereotyping others is. In everyday life we as human beings walk around judging others without realizing that we are doing so. One of Society's biggest problems that we are facing right now is in our society is one of the most overlooked problems, stereotyping people.

When someone can't identify and understand certain groupings of people they tend to make things easier for them. We as people love to categorize things and make them simple and instead oversimplify things. Stereotyping human beings is something that starts at home and is a learned behavior.(elaborating make connections) Parents without noticing that they are doing so teach their children to stereotype others. The media in general like TV shows, movies, the news, books, and etc. also plays a big part in stereotyping. In the media they over represent how a particular social group is supposed to act, look, and talk, which makes us believe that's how a group of individuals are supposed to look, talk, and act. Researchers have said that "the self fulfilling prophecy" imposed by one person or society to another person is also the cause to stereotyping. "The self fulfilling prophecy" that is imposed by others or society is when a person or a group tells someone else, something repeatedly they start to behave and become what they were being told. When it comes to stereotyping others society makes it seems that a particular assembly of people are the same people so then people in that group of people, then behave that in the way it they were perceived which then others then see which makes other people believe that these stereotypes that were given to these certain types of groupings are right. Because we group people based off of their sex, race, sexual orientation, age, religious beliefs, and other demographics we try to find or make up all the similarities of these bands of individuals.
