The change of speed in today’s society has increased dramatically, we are expected to process information at a faster rate. There is no time to sit and read new information, we want to be flooded with new information fast. While the technology in the world has increased most schools are moving slower. Most schools do not have up to date technology for their students to succeed in the real world. We can say this is a good thing to have less technology in school, because we can go back to the old days and research of the books. As you think about it, it’s actually a bad thing, with less technology in the school the students will be a step slower from the rest of the world. I propose we make sure all schools get the proper technology to help the student achieve in life. Time is advancing swiftly with technology as its sidekick on sweeping the way people think. In Nicholas Carr’s article, “Is Google Making Us Stupid?,” Carr discusses that as great as it is that society takes advantage of every technological innovation, allowing it to consume their way of living as it lacks the authenticity of personal and intellectual growth. Ultimately, society is in an unhealthy relationship with technology as technology brings forth its many conveniences, where society hops onto anything that will make life a bit easier, yet this harms society into losing their track of enjoying life and its trudges. Society focuses more on reaching a result quickly and efficiently, rather than enduring the progression towards that goal.

Technology has always had an important role in our generation. It helps us with pretty much all of our daily tasks we do such as help with school or work, reminding us to take out the trash or do the dishes, or even waking up at 5 in the morning. Although, has technology come to the point where it hurts us more than it does good in our society in which it causes us to be less social?

In order to become less reliant on technology, society must learn to adapt without it. Society has become very reliant on technology that people do not learn. In the book the Eleventh Plague, a book about a post apocalyptic America, people were very reliant on technology much like today’s society but learned to adapt when it wasn’t available. In Fahrenheit 451 citizens struggle to control their technology use. In Fahrenheit 451, one of Bradbury’s biggest concerns regarding technology in society is that it will hinder socializing, parenting, and education. What we need to do is lessen the use of technology and read a book.

Can technology cause major problems in society? Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is about a society where technology is the main source of entertainment. Books are being burned because the government thinks they aren’t necessary and technology is a better way to achieve information. Guy Montag, the main character, is a fireman and he becomes curious about what information comes from books and he wants to learn more. He meets a girl named Clarisse who sparks his interest and curiousness about books. Ray Bradbury wrote this book to warn people that technology is becoming too much of a problem in both our society and Fahrenheit 451’s society. Technology can cause huge problems in society because it takes over people’s lives, creates separation between people, and prevents getting information from books.

Technology – evolving just as humans once have. From the very first flint dagger to Artificial Intelligence, technology is rapidly advancing and filling our world. In numerous movies and books, technology shows humanity what the future might be like if technology keeps advancing at such a rate. Some view technology as a savior of humanity, a bridge into the light; others view it as a parasite, corrupting humanity. In Ray Bradbury’s, “The Veldt”, a life full of technology was originally viewed as a life of bliss, that is until everything started to spiral out of control. In the end, technology drove the family apart and caused great anxiety in all the characters.

As much as technology has a positive effect in society, it also has its negative issues.

From 1970 to now, technology has affected America in an economically and socially way since the Civil War. Cellphones, Homeland Security, Mp3’s, Laptops, Space Shuttles, Cancer, Robots, ATM’s, Hybrid cars, Modern medical advances, Transnational Extremism, and many more contemporary technologies have influenced our lives on an everyday basis. Having these technological devices makes communication among the masses more sociable and obtainable. To be quite frank, the world we live in, has changed dramatically from over 40 years ago.

Sherry Turkle argues that the dependency on technology in society eliminates the ability to communicate in her essay “the flight of the conversation.” Similarly, Paul Barnwell criticizes societies’ technological dependence but narrows the conversation to the current generation of high school students in his essay, “My Students Don’t Know How to Have a Conversation.” While both authors intend to argue the necessity for making conversation ultimately Turkle better identifies the issue and reaches a wider audience.

Many people depend on technology without knowing its potential effects. People tend to develop their mind as technology’s progressed. They want to be on the same level as technology’s improved. Technology just get better and better, what was once latest and popular yesterday is old hat today and the bottom line is technology doesn’t wait for anyone if you not keeping up with it, you will surely be left in the dust. If you compare the lifestyle of people living in the life of today’s time you will see that it is highly advanced, busy, complex and easier compared to the life of back in the days.
