French and Indian War The French and Indian war was the North American conflict between Great Britain and France. The French and Indian war was known as the Seven Years’ war. The war began in 1754 and it ended 1763. What caused the French and Indian war was the French and English wanted to claim the land where the Allegheny Ohio and Monongahela rivers met. It really was about who had claimed the land first. Both of the countries also wanted to keep the fur trade with the natives. There were several effects of the war.
