Early leadership studies in India supported the notion that Indian culture is authoritarian; therefore an authoritarian leader was thought to be more effective. The researcher.wants to find the actual qualities of leadership out the purview of gender biasness. According to the opinion of author, the man and woman both can make equal amount of money from a business deal. But the style of performance is obviously different. The man acts in more aggressive way while the women, are blessed with more sensibility. The women, have the quality of sensibility better than man. For this exceptional quality she can control and manage employees in much more good ways. Largely it was assumed that male leaders have some distinctive individuality that creates them more advanced and heightened leaders than a female candidate. It is featured that men are usually bodily stronger than females. This is indisputable because a male has evidently more power mass in comparison to a woman. So in this case if the leadership is based on the physical power the male members may win the argument. But when we talk about the business leadership the strategy making power is important. In this class the woman and man has no difference. It was presumed that men are born to lead to the leadership quality is within them from born. But it has to be kept in mind that
The U.S. Department of Labor (U.S. Department of Labor, n.d.) provided valuable statistics that revealed significant disparities in pay and opportunities between genders. This data highlighted the importance of addressing not only pay inequality but also non-promotional tasks and biases that hinder women from obtaining leadership roles. I delved into academic articles, reports, and news sources to uncover the root causes and consequences of gender inequality. This research deepened my knowledge and equipped me with a better understanding of how to approach this
Lublin the authors articulate the large equality gap between men and women in the workplace, and reasons that women are not being promoted in equal ranked jobs that men are succeeding in. Waller’s first argument begins with the tremendous amount of women that are being underrepresented at every level in the corporate pipeline, and the reasons behind it. According to a survey done by LeanIn.org and McKinsey & Co which provides research from 118 companies, and nearly 30,000 employees states that only 17% of women make up executive suite jobs, and 25% of women say they feel their gender has hindered their progress (Waller & Lublin). This leads to the unequal treatment of women in the workplace strictly based off of their gender, and that women face much greater barriers to advancement in the workplace, as well as an even steeper path to senior leadership. Most people may assume women are not being promoted due to the complexity of balancing work, and family when this is false, not only women, but specifically mothers, are even more hungry for job promotions than men due to the stressful situations of their
Week two talks about leadership qualities. Leadership is how an individual influences another individual or groups to achieve a common purpose. For a leader to achieve its set purpose or vision towards individual, organization, or a group, influence is the aim. Influence, therefore is the ability to direct or indirect manipulation to get others to act or respond in accordance to a leader’s want or desires. When a leader leads, the leader will often times have the people he or she is leading conform to his or her ways of doing things or at least agrees with the leader, which in this case regard as being obedience.
TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP Transformational Leadership is defined as leadership style focused on effecting revolutionary change in organizations through a commitment to the organization’s vision. (Sullivan & Decker, 2001) Transformational leaders are usually given higher position and are known for their charismatic sense and ability to develop high visions and regards in the work they do. They often give their best performances due to the low morale or self esteem Example: Steve Job, Bill Gates and Ratan Tata. As the existentialist rightly said, we always have a choice, in doing what we already have done or doing that which we have never done.
She also focuses on the absence of ambition among females in the labor pool and why women in today 's culture are fearful of being ambitions. Factors that cause a so called "leadership ambition gap" are discussed along with why women feel devalued within a professional
How can women be strong leaders at work without being labeled as “Bossy” or viewed as less likable than their male peers? If men use authoritative voice they are seen as leaders but when women who use an authoritative voice in a work environment they’re appear to be “Bossy”. In the short essay by Deborah Tannen called “Bossy” Is More Than a Word to Women”, she gives us a look at how the boys and girls behave with the same sex gender and how this issue still occurs when they become adults. And how girls who are being “Bossy” towards other girls can cause a negative effects for them. An option could be banning the word “Bossy” but could it really solve the problem for women?
Gender Stratification in The Workplace Over the years, women have fought their way through the various barriers thrown at them by society, they are now more educated, matching male participation rates in the labour force and they are seen to create more opportunities for themselves in the workplace. Despite these achievements, gender stratification still exists in organizations and corporations in the 21st century; this paper seeks to analyze the numerous reasons why women remain underrepresented in leadership positions in the workplace and how this causes a trickle-down effect for other females in non-managerial positions. One of the major factors influencing the progress women experience in their career advancement stems from the deep cultural-infused gender stereotypes associated

But why should gender matter? Women can be successful leaders because gender is irrelevant to somebody’s potential for success. The most inexperienced presidential candidate in modern history won the 2016 election, which also happens to be the same election in which the opponent was a woman. When we consider our current perception of women, this result doesn’t seem to be a coincidence. Women consistently do not get leadership positions, even if they have proven they can succeed.
Transformational leadership has been defined as a style of leadership where leaders can inspire and motivate those who follow. James MacGregor Burns introduced transformational leadership in 1978. According to Burns (Burns, 1978), the process of transformational leadership is one in which “leaders and followers help each other to advance to a higher level of morale and motivation. The purpose of my paper is to revisit my Comparison Matrix and compare the information from three empirical studies.
1) Question: If you were consulting with the HTE board of directors soon after Harold started making changes, what would you advise them regarding Harold’s leadership from a transformational perspective? Answer: Firstly, transformational leadership is a process that does exactly how it sounds, it transforms people. Through this sort of leadership, it is involved in being concerned with things such as standards, values, ethics, emotions, and long-term goals. If I were consulting with the HTE board of directors I would advise regarding Harold’s lack of awareness for those around himself and how that was making him an ineffective president.
Leadership has been defined in a variety of ways, there are multiple authors and theorists who have tried to define and understand leadership, all leading to varying theories and conclusions, but one thing that is universally understood is the importance of effective leadership and how someone with good leadership skills can impact so many people around them. (Kakabadse and Kakabadse, 1999; Yukl, 2002; Northouse,2013) The main components that have been identified to play a role in leadership are relations between leader and subordinates, interaction form between leader and followers, the influence that the leader has, the way in which the leader behaves and finally a leader’s traits. (Yukl, 2002) These elements that make up a leader, are then used as building blocks to identify the way in which each specific leader deals with its followers.
) Abstract Since women have started to become involved in competitive work field, important differences between men and women have emerged. It is clear that men have the more prominent roles in the work environment. Noticeably, men have the majority in science, academia and high-ranking job positions. Over the past 40 years defenders of women’s right have worked hard to assure growth of women's careers, trying to contest what is attribute as ‘the glass ceiling’ which is the invisible barriers that control woman from rising to top positions in corporate context. From the mid-90s European Government firms and private and public organizations have pursued a suit, bringing the recruitment of women at the upper levels of companies. The increasing prominence of leaders like Carly Fiorina, Hillary Clinton, and Condoleezza Rice accentuate the development in gender roles over the last half century.
