In the Book of Exodus God calls Moses up into the mountains for a different reasons than that of Abraham. Scripture says, “On the third new moon after the people of Israel had gone forth out of the land of Egypt, on that day they came into the wilderness of Sinai. And when they set out from Reph′idim and came into the wilderness of Sinai, they encamped in the wilderness; and there Israel encamped before the mountain. And Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him out of the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the people of Israel: You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now therefore, if you will obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my own possession among all peoples; for all the earth is mine, and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. …show more content…
In this passage God instructs Moses to tell His people how to remain faithful to God. This passage shows that God calls people to go up into the mountains (in a spiritual sense) to be instructed and guided by Him, to know the truth and the surest path to following him. Later in the Book of Exodus Scripture states, “on the third day the Lord will come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.” (Exodus 19:11). But the people were also instructed to not go up into the mountain until the Lord allows them to, for a border to be put between them and God, for them to remain clean and be ready for the Lord (Exodus 19:12-15). God knows that we cannot reach him without his help, so he chooses to come down to us, to reach us at our level, and when we are ready to bring us up with him. He is a loving and patient Father. This border that is between us and God is sin. We cannot ever begin climbing the mountain of the Lord (eternal life and unity with God) until the border of sin is
Moses went to the mountain to speak with God to get instructions from Him, but the Israelites sinned against God before Moses came down from the mountain. The Lord was greatly angered. And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, up make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. Exo32v1
God then agrees to assist Moses on his journey, by teaching him everything that he needs to know. Without this assertive personality of God, Moses would never make it out of town. Once Moses, along with God and Aaron at his side, finally make it to Egypt, the Pharoah refuses to let the people go. With the Pharaoh protesting all exemptions of the Israelites, God tells Moses, “...take your rod and stretch over the waters of Egypt...that they may become blood…” This brings forth the first plague sent to the Israelites.
Moses himself doubts this decision, and he says “’who am I, that I should go and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?””
Later, Moses prayed to the Lord, interceding for the sin of his people, and asking for their forgiveness; God forgave them, then Moses received the departure order to go to the Promised Land. Right before the departure, Moses prayed again to the Lord asking for guidance during the second part of the exodus, and Moses wanted to see God. The Lord gave the instruction to Moses to prepare two tablets again and ordered him to go up the Sinai Mountain. Moses did as the Lord said to him. The verses under study are the part where Moses came down from Sinai with the tablets of the covenant for the second and last time.
Good morning brother and sister, I guess we finally got to the part I been waiting to write on... Moses up in the mountains with God.... the peoples promise they will obey what God have told them... they already saw the powers of God... they felt Him...and they see His wonders...
I believe that in Egypt a complex society emerged because of the location they chose to inhabit. The Egyptians had a more productive and protected area of land. The Nile River was predictable and made it easier to grow crops (Wallech, 2013, p. 54). In addition, the Egyptians had only one of four frontiers susceptible to invasion (p. 54).
They forbed the Israelites from praying to God. God was not happy about how his people were being mistreated, so assigned Moses to demand that the Pharaoh let his people go.
Another thing we can learn from God and Moses relationship is obedience. Moses obeyed God in everything that God told him to fulfill. When God told Moses to lead the Hebrews out of Egypt, Moses did not stop until he led the Hebrews out of Egypt.
As a punishment for acting in distrust, just as those who did not wish to enter the Promise Land, he too was told that he would not enter “The LAnd of Milk and Honey”. This is the fall of Moses. To end this section of chapter 20, Moses continues to tell us, “These were the waters of Meribah, where the Israelites quarreled with the Lord and where he was proved holy among them.” (Numbers 20:13) Here again we are exposed to God’s true nature, his power,
ANCIENT EGYPT: The Creation Epic Myth Historical Thesis Essay World History Maria Landrum One of the first civilizations was Egypt, which primarily began around 3100 B.C.E, and was heavily dependent upon rivers to sustain the agricultural economy (Strayer 74,77). The Nile River, known as “that green gash of teeming life” was at the core of life for Egyptians and their culture reflected a stable, and hopeful attitude toward life (Strayer 75). The mythological belief in gods’ powers and blessing on the lives of Egyptians culturally held a strong grasp and wove into the fabric of Egypt’s advanced literature and engineering of the time (Strayer 75). Egyptians primarily believed in mythology and focused on their Pharaoh as a ruler to be a god
Like a giant snake, the Nile River slithers through some of the driest desert land on earth to create a narrow green valley. The ancient Greeks called this land Egypt. For more than five thousand years famous and often mysterious civilizations thrived along the banks of the Nile. About 450 BCE, a Greek person called Egypt the "Gift of the Nile" because the Egyptian civilization depended on the resources of the great

He overly relies on God to solve every problem he encounters, not believing himself to be able to solve them. His lack of drive and overdependence on God causes problems to arise again and again. The Israelites’ disobedience of God’s commands and their constant complaints about their conditions in their wilderness are such examples of Moses’s incompetence when it comes to exerting control over the Israelites. Although Moses is the one that leads them out of Egypt, he does not gain the hearts of the
But Moses feels unworthy and is reluctant to be God's spokesperson. In Exodus 3:13-18, God gives Moses two names - first, He is the God of the Patriarchs, Abraham,
The mountainside provided an area for His disciples to be nearer to him instead of the crowds that had been following Him. It is important to also consider the similarities of the backdrop of this scene for the Jewish followers who where well aware of Moses receiving the law on Mount Sinai, and now Jesus fulfilling the law as Messiah and
