The optimal column to showcase this strategy is in "Parents: Save A Kid Brain - Get Off Your Phones!" Since the audience for this piece is parents of small children, one of the most effective strategies to persuade them is to logically show how their current actions may have a bad influence on their children. In this piece, Cepeda does just that to convince readers that their technology addiction is more serious than they thought by bringing in scientific and psychological research. By way of illustration, she includes two separate studies and discusses their results that technology negatively impacts child development and how these studies apply to the lives of the readers. Citing two separate studies allows Cepeda to rely more on the facts persuading her readers than her own opinions.
In our society in this generation, smartphones and advanced technology are becoming more relevant every day. Because of this outbreak, we question if the use of tablets, video games, and smartphones are affecting us in a negative way. Some say it's benefiting our future, whereas others think technology is ruining the minds of the youth. Science fiction novels and movies predict a dark future if we continue down the path we are on. Ray Bradbury even predicted such a dreaded future many decades ago in Fahrenheit 451.
The article “Kids With Bedroom Smartphones Sleep Less: Study” by Alan Mozes argues that children with access to smart devices during bedtime hours sleep less. He establishes his argument by stating that smartphones deprive children of sleep more than TV's do and that sleeping anywhere near a smartphone or any light from an electric device can disturb your sleep patterns. He also states that states that not only te light can affect you but also the easy access. having an electronic device near you while you sleep makes you more likely to delay your bedtime in order to send that last text or pass just one more level on a game which can greatly affect you more than you think. In order to get his point across, Mozes uses facts about a certain experiment

Turkle states that, “the mere presence of a phone on a table between them (two people) or in the periphery of their vision changes both what they talk about and the degree of connection they feel.” While this may be true, along with the other studies on how technology is detrimental to society, there as also positives aspects that contribute to society as well. “It is not about giving our phones but about using them with greater intention” (Turkle). This quote by Turkle embodies how I feel about the technology debate and the more new technology and phones have developed the more we have analyzed whether or not they are good for our society, and at what age kids should use them.
He explores themes of anger and frustration with others due to addiction to technology. He notes that, “36% of parents argue daily with their child over use of mobile devices” (Webb). This data shows how overuse of the internet and electronics can easily result in mood changes, no matter who you are interacting with. This information serves as a reminder to limit your screen time before you let it control your every

The growth of technology is constantly increasing everyday as people always find a way to either improve upon it or make something new out of it. Technology has been incorporated into almost everyone’s lives; whether it is from work, school, and even for their own entertainment. Almost anyone cannot go a day without seeing some sort of glowing screen; especially children. In 1999, 60% of children had access to a computer at home (Subrahmanyam et al p.124), which was only 18 years ago. Technology had advanced a whole lot in the past decade.

The current study is the effects of exposure to technology on young children. As we become increasingly more reliant and absorbed in technology, it is no surprise that today’s children have become avid users as well (Hatch, 2011). Children at the age of three or four already have tablets, smart phones, and others; they could easily attain technologies and would even demand for one. As it makes easier for us, technology has both positive and negative impacts especially on young children. It comes with great opportunities but these opportunities likewise come with great risk
