“The word - is a great instrument of life” Words are the garb of people’s thoughts. Words can be very powerful and influential both in the society and among people, because whether or not someone choose the right words could change someone's life forever. Brilliant examples of power of words took shape in world’s history. A holocaust survivor, Elie Wiesel, who survived the concentration camp, wrote a book ‘Night’, as well as he introduced his acceptance speech to different people all around the world. He sought to restore the amicable and tolerate society where there is no place for such a word as ‘hate’. In “This Blind Alley” poem demonstrates the enormous power of words introduced by the author. In this poem Ahmad Shamlu uses metaphorical as well as figurative language to strengtheneth feelings toward the poem as well as to make his ideas clearer. Ahmad’s writing style seems to be commanding and demanding as if it was written by someone in power. For example, the author says: “Love must be hid in closets at home. Light must be hid in closets at home. Canaries are being roasted on a spit of lilacs and jasmine. These are strange times, my dear Satan, triumph-drunk Feasts at a table spread with our mourning. God must be hid in closets at home.” By repeating the demands, Ahmad craetes and allusion to their oppressive government and its demands to people. One can say that Ahmad left an imprint in the history of Iran and his name will forever remind people of how important it is to be together and . He inspired many young people to go outside of their homes to rebel against their government to achieve peace and justice. The author’s poem corresponds to all of the sources listed above, but the biggest connection can be made between his and Malala’s Speech, where she asks for acceptance and non-violence. He is famous as a political activist who fought for rights of African Americans in South Africa during apartheid. He wrote a very powerful inauguration speech in 1994. In his speech he addressed social and ethical problems that boiled minorities over the past hundred years: “We succeeded to take our last steps to freedom in conditions of relative peace. We commit ourselves to the construction of a complete, just and lasting peace. We have triumphed in the effort to implant hope in the breasts of the millions of our people. We enter into a covenant that we shall build the society in which all South Africans, both black and white, will be able to walk tall, without any fear in their hearts, assured of their inalienable right to human dignity — a rainbow nation at peace with itself and the world. We dedicate this day to all the heroes and heroines in this country and the rest of the world who sacrificed in many ways and surrendered their lives so that we could be free. Their dreams have become reality. Freedom is their reward.” Mandela emphasizes liberation, hope, equality and many other emotions throughout the speech. The use of nouns, anaphora, and repetition to set his ideas for the audience, make the audience to believe that better life is coming. He creates a tone of gratitude towards every single person that helps him to conquer the freedom of his homeland.
