As I was, reading the excerpt of Night by Ellie Wiesel, I would begin to express empathy towards the author as he had to struggle through various unsanitary, horrendous places. Throughout these areas the narrator explains how his human rights and basic needs are stripped away. According to Humanitarian Coalitions site “The essential humanitarian needs are food, shelter, non-shelter food items, water, sanitation and hygiene promotion.” Lines 17-20, demonstrate how each prisoner had their essential rights taken away “ Buna was a real hell then. There was no water, no blankets, less soup and bread.

Throughout the story there were many examples of how she can outsmart people who might think they were above her. She proves that not all heros have to be the stereotypical strong, young man, but can be an old woman with a smart

The most significant part of the book so far is when the group of friends find out that Josie is still alive. In the last book, they thought she died in a fight. The whole book is based around saving her from the concentration camp. This book reminds me of Divergent. Both books have a country at war.

Scout demonstrates the idea that adversity does strengthen an individual by learning how to take her life situations, furthermore turn them into positive outcomes, resulting in her building an emotional wall in order to prevent her past from breaking her down, leading her to show the world that she is transitioning into a mature, young woman. In Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, Jean Louise Finch (Scout Finch) becomes exhibited to adversity in her early childhood. Scout begins by having an arduous time trying to be herself without facing the wrath of people narking on her about the way she dresses as well as the way she acts. Without a mother figure present in her life, the only way she feels like herself is by doing what she knows best, acting as well as dressing like a boy.
Courage is having strength in the face of pain or grief. In the book called Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, Mildred Taylor did a great job showing how Cassie Logan has courage and that she can stand up for what is right. Cassie showed courage when she was in Strawberry, going up against Lillian Jean Simms (her enemy), and helping TJ even though her was really mean and rude to her. Cassie Logan was a southern girl who lived in Mississippi. She didn 't like being told what to do
