In the class notes a habitual/ portfolio entrepreneur is described as one that may establish / purchase/inherit and retain ownership of several private businesses concurrently. Also his focus turned solely to greatly changing the future for the good of humanity through space exploration and the transition to renewable energy sources. From my research this new goal is a key trait for the social entrepreneur and it is why I believe my entrepreneur fits this description very aptly. He used the funds generated from the sale of Paypal to provide the funding for other business ventures such as SpaceX (space exploration), Solarcity and Tesla (renewable energy products).
Q3. Identify the character traits and skills that have enabled your identified entrepreneur to establish and grow a successful business venture.
Despite decades of Academic Research on the topic there is no universal definition of entrepreneurship and no agreement about the precise traits and behaviours that characterize entrepreneurial leaders. The traits and skills that I believe were instrumental to the success of Elon Musk were his belief that he could change the world for the greater good, determination, obsessive, commitment, risk taker, creative, continual self - improvement, workaholic, and an understanding of fundamentals from first principles.
From a very early age his father notice that Elon thought differently from everyone
Entrepreneurs controlled the Gilded Age creating a growing economy with booming businesses and yet this has not changed over the years. John Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie can be compared to those with the names Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. Multibillionaires, who know what the consumers desire, is what these men are best at. They knew and now know business well enough to be able to control our country’s’ economy. However, these successful business men do not do it together.

“Even as a child, I enjoyed comeback stories where people overcame adversity and against all odds achieved what they sought. I was always rooting for the underdog. The greater the challenge, the more I liked the story. However, I could not fathom that one-day, I would be the fallen one trying to claw my way back.” Jorge Newberry began enterprising at the age of seven, dropped out of high school at sixteen becoming an enterprising entrepreneur as he rose to the top building a vast financial empire.
As our country reached the late 1800’s, Americans found themselves face to face with era known as the ‘Gilded Age’. Companies were created and grew rapidly during this time period. Some of the most famous entrepreneurs were John D. Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie, who seemed to be the perfect models for the ‘rags to riches’ story. Many people debate which entrepreneur was a better role-model. Due to his low prices, the high demand for his products, and the way he sought to eliminate any possible competition, John D. Rockefeller is clearly the better role-model for today’s entrepreneurs.

After the Civil War, the United States experienced many events in terms of economy, culture and social, and those events made a big change to the U.S. One of the richest person in the world, “Andrew Carnegie”, who is also known as the civil leader, built the steel mill by 1900. While, most of the firms were working by themselves or family at that time, he was good at vertical integration. Including him, thanks to the genius and rich inventors, the concept of social and economy of U.S. had changed. On the contrary, because these rich people had most of the finance, the number of people who were under the lower-class had been increasing.
People with lots of money do not struggle as they can live freely without having to adjust. Upper class people with good job allow them to live comfortably without any financial issues whereas lower class people with small job struggle to live as they have financial issues. A person from lower class has no social connection whereas a person from higher class has lot of social connection. An individual from rich class has more social network as other people know that individual well and an individual from poor class has no social network as other people do not know that individual. Rich individual has connection with other people which allows him to have lot of
Andrew Carnegie, born 1835, was an industrialist and philanthropist who soon became an influential entrepreneur. In 1848, he and his family immigrated to the United States from Scotland with little to no money in their pockets. They settled in Pennsylvania where he later worked as a secretary and telegraph operator at the Pennsylvania Railroad Company. From there, Carnegie slowly moved his way up the social ladder and became superintendent of the Pittsburgh Division of Pennsylvania Railroad. Andrew Carnegie is an entrepreneur because he saw an opportunity to create and run a business, despite the risk and responsibility he would have to assume.
It was a result of the free enterprise system that Henry Ford was able to establish his business and develop it into a successful enterprise. His success as an entrepreneur not only benefited him, but it also benefited other entrepreneurs. His leadership in this field led to the development of new concepts and ideas which were beneficial to future entrepreneurs and helped them to develop their own business ideas in order to become successful as well. Therefore, it is through the success of one entrepreneur that many others were also able to
Elites’ taste were commonly adopted by people with lower income and status through the process of refinement which created the middle class. However, the middle class had to work in order to purchase all the material objects like tableware, china, carpets, and clocks. They earned extra income from household manufacturing. Thus, the middle class dealt with textiles and quilting to earn money and comfort. They were used to create family clothes or exchanged work with other people to create a strong fabric used to create summer working dressses.

According to research, most successful entrepreneurs have certain personal attributes in common. Possessing these personal attributes is just a start, executing them properly and to maximum is what we expect from an entrepreneur. Though, you must have a vision and execute it consequently.
Entrepreneurship in the Philippines is currently booming and one of the best things a person can do today is start taking action in putting up its own business or acquiring a franchise (Louren, 2017). Entrepreneurship is a state of mind. It is not identified or measured with the type of business a person is in the success of that business but rather it is the total way of life for entrepreneurs. Being an entrepreneur requires distinct personality traits such as having a risk-taking personality, need for achievement, internal focus of control, tolerance for ambiguity and having a type A behavior or striving to achieve more in less time and general competitiveness (Gilles and Mondejar, 2008). Entrepreneurship has been described as the “capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage a business venture along with any of its risks in order to make a profit” (www.businessdictionary.com).
