In the article “To Stir, with Love” by Emily Nussbaum evaluates a few different types types of cooking shows. She uses shows such as Iron Chef, Hell’s Kitchen, and Top Chef as the more well know competition cooking shows. In contrast, Nussbaum then uses cooking shows such as Good eats and Julia Child’s show as the example for traditional stand-and-stir cooking shows. Nussbaum basically says that it depends if the show will help you with what you’re trying to accomplish. For example, if you’re trying to cook for say ten people a competition type cooking show is probably not the best to use to learn from.
