The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing -Socrates. One of the most unexpected ways in which people can show intelligence is through emotional intelligence. I know this is true because of the relationships in “Flowers for Algernon,” shows depth into how Charlie’s relationships were affected when his intelligence improved. And in the story, “Why is Emotional Intelligence Important for Teens?,” it mentions that many psychologists are finding that a person’s EQ, emotional intelligence, is in many cases more important than their IQ. And finally because of how a person’s emotional intelligence can change a person’s personality to demonstrate intelligence. These are my points on how emotional intelligence is one of the most unexpected ways people can show their intelligence.

Personality and emotional intelligence go hand in hand people can show intelligence in this way, like how Daniel Tammet has synesthesia so he associates people by their personalities with shapes, numbers, and even colors. This is a way to show intelligence through emotional intelligence because he's showing what he knows with his synesthesia and what hes come to know. Howard Gardner didn't believe that IQ was the only way to represent intelligence so he came up with a list of multiple intelligences. There is more than one type of intelligence you can be any of them based on your personality. So depending on which intelligences you are, you're demonstrating your intelligence through emotional intelligence because personality and emotional intelligence go together. It means you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections. ”In the book Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes a 37 year old man named Charlie Gordon has a mental disability. He works at a bread factory and still has to go to school for extra help because he just can’t flip the switch. Too doctors try a surgery on Charlie to hopefully make him a genius.
Personality can have many definitions and interpretations depending on who one asks. A personality is made up of emotions, feelings, and behaviors. An individual’s personality depends on what they are thinking or feeling a certain situation. What is most interesting about personalities is that it is different for every individual, and can change at any moment. In Amy Sherman Paladino’s, Gilmore Girls, the main character Lorelai Gilmore is witty, full spirited and, her personality makes her stand out in a crowd.
Mike Rose disagrees with the assumption that “Intelligence is closely associated with formal education” (Mike, 247). Formal education does not always measure the level of intelligence of a person. Charlie has always been made fun of, by people who he thought were his friends. Charlie is not able to comprehend things like other people in his age group also. Charlie works at a factory with his friends making bread. If Charlie could have any chance of becoming smarter he would take it in a heartbeat, and that’s exactly what he did. When Charlie begins to gain more intelligence, more than an average person, he learns that intelligence won’t solve everything.
According to Daniel Goleman (1998), Emotional Intelligence is "the capacity for recognizing our own feelings and those of others, for motivating ourselves, and for managing emotions well in ourselves and in our relationships. Leadership influences the behaviors, attitudes and thoughts of others. Effective leaders help others navigate obstacles and challenges. They can also encourage and inspire those around them.
This might be a sign of lacking awareness of problem. Emotional intelligence refers to a person’s abilities to perceive, identify, understand, and successfully manage emotions in self and others. Being emotionally intelligent means being able to effectively manage ourself and our relationships. A leader need a high degree of emotional intelligence to regulate their emotions and motivate others.

There is an important theme in the story Flowers for Algernon By Daniel Keyes. It is a fiction novel about a thirty year old man who has been battling to overcome an intellectual deficit all of his life and has an opportunity to become more intelligent than he ever had imagined through an experimental operation. He takes the opportunity and in a few weeks he becomes a genius for a short time before his itelligence receded as fast as it increased. The author includes many important themes throughout the passage. Daniel Keyes develops the theme that intelligence doesn’t affect who you truly are through Charlie’s experiences both before and after the operation.
