What it means to have self-awareness is to know about yourself. You know about some of your strengths and weaknesses, your motives, feelings, and desires. I feel like this is one of my best skills because I know what areas that I need improvement on and I work hard to improve upon them. Whether it may be practicing it on a daily basis or asking some companions for help. Knowing myself helps me to better coordinate responsibilities when it comes to doing group projects or even when it comes to helping someone else.
Participating in the leadership self-assessments shown I am transformational and servant leader. In this assessment has given me an opportunity to identify my strengths and weaknesses. The assessments have been an eye-opening experience which have led me to develop a deeper understanding of my actions, motives, and values; and how contribute to successful outcomes or negative consequences. Learning about myself through these self-assessments has been an investment in the future of both my personal and professional life. Meanwhile, I am particularly good at encouraging my team and helping.
Leading by example is in fact a reality. A team that is led by a most creative and innovative leader with an aim to succeed will in fact be successful if that leader has the will and know how to make that team operate in one accord. Peterson (1961), in his book,
The leaders have 4 different styles depending on the individual needs, which are directive style, coaching style, supporting style and lastly delegation style (Carpenter, et. al. 2009. p 237). This theory fits with my personal style because I understand the differences between people and I will be able to select the best style for each of the follower lead and develop them to be fully fledged workers and even future leaders. I am one of those people who always encourage my friends or colleagues to better their lives either by changing their lifestyle or bad financial habits or up-skilling themselves, therefore I will be able to direct, coach support and delegate to the fellow followers when I implement the Situational Leadership Theory.
I strive to better the reputation of our groomers by giving them the best knowledge that I can in the little amount of time that I am given. I go far beyond what the company asks of me and I am constantly checking my curriculum against the standards set by the AKC who created them. I love my job and actively work to better my leadership and teaching style encouraging the upward mobility of my students within the company and in general. I let them take part in daily problem solving and decision making, I try to make learning fun and expect respect and team work from every one of them. I really love the position of leadership I am in now and hope to translate it into the healthcare field with equally as much
People are constantly observing behavior and forming theories about your competence, character, and commitment, which are rapidly disseminated throughout the workplace. It is only wise to add my voice in outlining others ' theories about who I am and what I can accomplish. I have used impression management to enhance my own professional image the accuracy of my self-awareness could drive successful decision-making when it comes to my personal and professional life. By becoming more self-aware and maintaining a level of self-awareness, even when everything around us is changing. In order to create a positive professional image, impression management must effectively accomplish two tasks, establishing credibility and maintain authenticity.
It is essential to view others’ frame of reference in order understand what others perceive to be able to develop and succeed. I have analyzed my thoughts, feelings, and actions through my frame of reference. I will use my positive traits to further develop them and I plan to turn my negative traits into positive ones to be able to succeed in any field of my preference. However, I have identified many positive and negative traits I obtain and I have narrowed them down to one positive and one negative trait at a time. I am highly skilled at taking responsibility, but I lack the patience, and I plan to practice that by using others frame of reference of time.
Nevertheless, it is the way that friction is approached that makes a difference. By applying my positive attitude and sense of finding a common ground among coworkers, it will enable me to apply this strength to my daily life. Lastly, the strength of achiever was a lesser theme for me compared to my other top strengths. I sometimes take on too many tasks and want to accomplish many things in order to make me feel good about myself. I am extremely committed to everything I do and influence others to succeed in what they do.
I have learned that one of my biggest strengths is perseverance, and I am always willing to push through difficult situations and personal issues in order to get our work done. I also think that one of the biggest strengths that our group has as a whole is each other because we can play off of each other’s strengths and use them to our advantage. Throughout my personal experiences as a volunteer, my ability to work with other people has allowed me to learn more and work harder. I really want to make a difference in any way that I can, and I think that my strengths will contribute to the team in a positive way. Overall, I am beyond excited to experience this with the members of our group and I truly believe that the work that we will be doing matters to the people living in Los Fierros.
These have all shown the importance of responsibility when it comes to being in any position in a group or organization. If I do not carry my own weight in a group, then I am leading the whole group to failure. This quality has also shown me that I need to take responsibility for any and all of my actions and admit to what I have done, whether it be positive or negative, and to learn from my mistakes to better myself as a person. One thing that leadership positions have taught me is to be the best positive influence in someone’s life. Even if it is just getting a laugh out of someone, I am dedicated to being a good, positive influence to those around me because in today’s society, we are all too often bombarded with negativity.
