April 13th, 2023 Care and Empathy within the Nursing Environment The nursing profession is an integral part of the healthcare industry. Nurses play a crucial role in providing care to patients. Nurses provide a range of services to individuals, families, and communities, including but not limited to, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, assisting with procedures, and providing emotional support. The nursing field is diverse, with nurses serving in various settings, such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and home health agencies. I am going to discuss the care that is given in the nursing field, the challenges that are faced by nurses who are providing care, and the strategies employed by nurses to ensure quality care. I want to highlight the importance of evidence-based practice in nursing. Patients who feel cared for and understood are more likely to trust their nurses and follow their advice. Empathetic nurses can understand the emotional needs of their patients and provide the necessary support and comfort. Care and empathy can also help to reduce anxiety and stress levels in patients, which can have a positive impact on their overall health and well-being. So, a good example of this would be a patient who has gone to the hospital for mental health, without a caring and empathetic nurse the chances of this person being able to recover over time would likely differ from a person whose nurse is there for them in a caring and empathetic way. Meaning a nurse who puts blame or keeps a negative attitude towards the patient rather than sitting and speaking with the patient may not get the same results as the nurse showing that caring and empathic
