This study will be focused on assessing how SMEs employers motivate their employees in order to reach company goals and objectives. It will also asses if companies incentives meet the needs of employees as well as how non-financial incentives impact employees and how motivations factors productivity in the organisation.Furthermore the essay will seek to find out what demotivates employees and what employers are doing about demotivated employees.
Motivation has been studied for decades and leaders in the workplace have used assessments like DISC and Myers-Briggs to determine their employee’s personality types to better anticipate behaviors and tendencies. Depending on what is incentivized, employers can encourage teamwork and cooperation or damage it. If you provide an individual sales incentive to sales staff, for example, you guarantee that your sales force will not work together to make sales.
Alternatively, provide a team incentive and employees will follow up each other’s leads, share best methods, and work as a team to make sales.

The primary aim of this study is to understand the relationship between employee work motivation and company incentives. The study also analyzes the main motivation theories and approaches commonly used and followed. Knowing these approaches will allow the organization taking the decision about the type of motivation incentives/ approaches to be used effectively.
