Introduction
Human resource is not only a strategic resource of the contemporary enterprise, but also the most important key factor of business development. Every enterprise is concerned about how to effectively stimulate working ability and improve working efficiency of employees. “Motivation arouses a person to act towards a desired goal. It is a driving force which promotes action” (Wikipedia, 2013). In management, motivating refers to the process of stimulating employees’ working motivation. Employees at Starbucks are called as partner rather than staff. Because of the stock plan, all employees have opportunity to become a shareholder of Starbucks and share the development of Starbucks. Since 1991, Starbucks has implemented employee stock purchase plan. Every employee can purchase Starbucks’ stocks at a discounted price. In this way, the option value and pride of employees will increase while the price of Starbucks’ stocks rises. Furthermore, Starbucks’ stock plan is also combined with employee reward system. For example, according to the operating conditions, profitability, and individual salary and so on, Starbucks will award a certain number of stocks to the employees who meet the conditions. Therefore, Starbucks’ stock system is not only the reward for excellent performance employees who work long in the enterprise, but also combines employee benefits with corporate interests.
