I’ve been in jail for around a year now, I’ve made three new friends. We meet up at lunch and have chats about almost anything. Today’s chat is about how we ended up in jail. I found out that all of my friends were arrested because they were caught stealing. One of my friends said, “how’d you end up here Bob?” I said, “this is a long story, are you sure?” “Yes,” said another friend. Here the story began. “Around 10 o’clock at night, I was waiting in front of a old burnt down restaurant.” “Why?” One friend asked with a confused look on his face. I replied, “save all of the questions till the end please.” “Ok,” my friend shook his head in agreement. I continued with my story, “It was a appointment I had made twenty years ago with a old friend of mine.” All three of my friends moved in closer filled with interest. …show more content…
“I spoke and told him it was alright and that I was waiting for a old friend, I lit a cigar and told him all about my old friend. Before the policeman left he asked if I was going to call time on my friend sharp. I said my friend would show up and how’d I’d give him thirty minutes because my friend had always been true to his word. We said our goodbyes and then in around twenty minutes , I saw a tall man in a raincoat hurry across the street directly to me.” Again filled with more interest my friends moved in just a tiny bit
In the article "A Jail Sentence Ends. But the Stigma Doesn't." , James Forman argues that in the US there is not enough forgiveness to those who have been incarcerated. Forman brings the debate on the life of an inmate who is released and then trying to get back into the sway of life.
Recreation ended and Officer Law was locking down the inmates on the bottom tier. In Cell F3 Inmate Todd was lying down on his bunk (bottom) his head facing the wall, backside exposed, blanket covering his head, fully clothed, awake and his cellmate Patrick Michael Argoe was
One by one they recited their stories. They walked into town happily and enjoyed one anothers stories. They were so caught up in each others stories that they had not even realized their surroundings. As the stories were told and the time passed dark was turning day. When the Civil War came to an end, Congress passed legislation on several civil rights issues that aimed at safeguarding those who had previously been slaves. However, even though this legislation had been passed, there was still a prevalent culture of racism that opposed the legislation. This resulted in the civil rights movement, a mass popular movement to acquire equal rights and opportunities for African Americans. Demonstrators pursued their goals through legal legislation, petitions, and nonviolent protests. It took the actions of many brave leaders to end the segregation between African American and Caucasians communities, which lead to many innocent lives to be lost in the process.
“They had a big party --,” my father said. “And your sister and her husband passed out in the back bedroom. And somebody tried to cook some soup on a hot plate. And they forgot about it and left. And a curtain drifted

Well correct me if I’m wrong but it sounded like you were concerned that other inmates would stop being your friends. So you in return ignored everyone because you were unsure if you could trust anyone. When this random inmate talked to you and realized you were absent you unconsciously thought that not all inmates would stop being friends with you? This is just a thought but I just want to know what you think?
Miller’s purpose for setting this scene in a jail cell is to set the mood of Act Four. Miller describes the cell as. “The place is in darkness but for the moonlight seeping through the bars. It appears empty.” (121), to convey the sense of gloominess that rolls into the town.
Geoffrey Chaucer’s framed narrative, The Canterbury Tales, follows the tale of twenty-nine extremely different pilgrims making a journey to Canterbury. They are led by a character called the Host, who houses the pilgrims on their first night before their expedition takes place. Along the way, the Host creates a competition to pass the time; he has each of the travelers tell a story, and whoever shares the best story will win a free meal at the end of the pilgrimage. Each individual character telling his or her tale is what makes The Canterbury Tales a framed narrative. The framing of each tale serves as a device to explore the character’s own values and personality.
